When not operating equipment, the role may also support general warehouse functions throughout the distribution center such as shipping, receiving, stocking, order fulfillment, packing, sorting, labeling, or quality assurance. Work is performed in accordance with company policies and guidelines, using tools such as RF scanners, step ladders, conveyor systems, and sortation walls.Principal Duties & Responsibilities (*Essential Functions)The Material Handler Equipment Operator is a champion of Ulta Beauty's mission, vision, and values, and should demonstrate them skillfully and consistently by performing the following duties and responsibilities of the position (as well as all other projects/duties as assigned):PerformanceOperates powered industrial trucks (PIT), including but not limited to fork trucks, order selectors, dock stockers, and powered pallet jacks; with the ability to certify on all pieces of equipment as neededPerforms daily checks on equipment prior to operatingDemonstrates flexibility in daily task assignments and performs other general warehouse tasks, as assignedAccurately picks and packs orders using established work practicesRestocks picking bins with product brought from reserve storage based on warehouse management system reporting.Accurately sorts, counts, and receives all merchandiseMoves product to and from pallet racks with powered material handling equipment such as pallet jackWorks with conveyors to accurately build pallets of cartons to ship outLoads or unloads trucks, sorting and labeling product as neededOrganizes warehouse storage space effectivelyWorks in a clean and orderly manner at all timesUses a RF scanner/hand scanner to direct work (pick, pack, receive, move)Use of sortation walls and conveyor systems to complete daily tasksMeets safety, productivity, and quality standardsDemonstrates flexibility in daily task assignments and performs other general warehouse tasks, as assignedPeopleEstablishes professional peer and brand partner relationships that foster a shared interest in collaboratively delivering exceptional guest serviceUses basic interpersonal skills in accomplishing tasksAttends mandatory trainings and meetings to enable continuous professional developmentWorks effectively in a team environmentProcessKnowledgeable of and ensures compliance with Ulta Beauty policies, procedures, and standardsAdheres to the Ulta Beauty dress codeProtects company assets by following loss prevention best practices Follows all safety guidelines and standards to ensure a safe working environment, including hazard recognition, housekeeping, accident and near miss reporting, proper use of all safety equipment and procedures, and adherence to all safety rulesReports faulty equipment, damage to company property including racks, and other safety hazards to supervisorExecutes other operational tasks as directedAdheres to established attendance, quality, and production standardsFollows instructions quickly, safely and accuratelyEffectively communicates, understands basic written and oral instructions, reads and interprets documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals, in EnglishJob QualificationsEducationHigh school diploma or GED; 1 year or more related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experienceExperiencePrevious relevant experience is preferredSkillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamMust successfully complete training and obtain certification in assigned area, including specific equipment certificationBasic math skills including the ability to accurately add, subtract, multiply, and divideKnowledge of RF (radio frequency) scannersBasic Computer skillsMust be reliable and dependableAbility to multitaskSpecial Position RequirementsWorks a flexible schedule to include mandatory overtime during the week and/or weekend as well as holidaysMust be at least 18 years of ageWorking ConditionsConstant exposure to loud noisesOccasionally required to work at elevated heightsWhile operating an order picker, must wear a safety harness and could be elevated more than 20 feet off the groundExposure to variable temperaturesExposure to dusty environmentMay be exposed to strong scents related to cosmetic or fragranceMay be required to work in narrow aisles or trailersMust wear cut gloves when box cutters are usedIf an associate has a disability that prevents them from performing an essential function of the job, the Company will engage in the interactive process with the associate to determine whether there is a reasonable accommodation that will enable the associate to perform the essential functions of the job.AboutAt Ulta Beauty (NASDAQ: ULTA), the possibilities are beautiful.
