Environmental Health & Safety Specialist
$47 per hourMILLENNIUMSOFT
Roles & Responsibilities
- Aid in managing site safety and environmental programs (Chemical Hygiene, Biological Safety, Fire Safety).
- Manage investigations of accidents and work-related injuries or illnesses, maintain OSHA 300 Logs, and follow up on Workers' Compensation cases.
- Oversee the site's Ergonomics Program, including evaluations and follow-up activities.
- Assist in managing the EHS Training Program, maintain the training database, and provide limited training.
- Review and update written safety and environmental programs including SOPs and Work Instructions.
- Schedule and participate in quarterly Safety Council meetings and produce meeting minutes.
- Conduct laboratory evaluations to ensure regulatory compliance and report activities.
- Coordinate and document monthly safety equipment inspections (eye washes, emergency showers, fire extinguishers).
- Conduct quarterly site inspections, document findings, and follow up as necessary.
- Ensure all equipment and areas have the correct warning signs and labels.
- Stay informed on compliance requirements and participate in relevant training.
- Implement safety awareness programs and participate in departmental safety inspections.
- Update and maintain EHS databases, track metrics, and prepare monthly reports.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Experience working within a biotech or laboratory setting in a safety role.
- Experience or broad knowledge of EHS programs.
- Ability to take direction routinely.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of EHS regulations and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in maintaining safety records and databases.
- Capability to conduct training and evaluations.
- Education: Bachelor's degree preferred in a relevant field.
- Full-time position, 40 hours per week.
- Onsite work only.
- Maximum billing rate: $47/hr.
- Daily work hour schedule determined upon hire.
