Duration: 6 months with possible extension
Senior SQL Database Developer (T-SQL / SSRS / Power BI)
Position Summary
Seeking a Senior SQL Database Developer with expert-level Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL experience to support mission-critical government applications and reporting systems. This role focuses on complex query development, data quality analysis, operational reporting, ETL processes, and business intelligence solutions using SQL Server, SSRS, Power BI, and SSIS.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, optimize, and maintain complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and functions.
- Design and support SSRS reports for operational reporting, compliance reporting, and Excel exports.
- Create audit, exception, and data-quality reports to identify errors, inconsistencies, and missing data.
- Develop and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards, and datasets.
- Build and support SSIS packages for ETL, data migration, and system integration.
- Troubleshoot database performance issues and implement query and index tuning.
- Support SQL Server Agent jobs, database maintenance, and operational reliability.
- Document database objects, ETL processes, and reporting solutions.
- Collaborate with business users, analysts, and technical teams to deliver data-driven solutions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- 10+ years of Microsoft SQL Server development experience.
- Expert-level T-SQL skills, including:
Complex joins
- CTEs
- Window functions
- Dynamic SQL
- Stored procedures
- Query optimization
Strong experience with SSRS, Power BI, and SSIS.
Experience developing audit, exception, and data-quality reporting solutions.
Strong knowledge of SQL Server administration fundamentals, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
Experience supporting high-volume transactional systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting government agencies, courts, education, healthcare, or other public-sector organizations.
- Experience with case management, court management, student information, financial, or healthcare systems.
- Experience with C#, PowerShell, Azure Data Factory, Azure DevOps, JIRA, and Confluence.
- Familiarity with data governance, security, compliance, and records retention requirements.
Security Requirements
- Ability to pass a background investigation and meet government security requirements.
