Operating Room Assistant

Operating Room Assistant (ORA) plays a vital role in supporting surgical teams by ensuring a clean, organized, and efficient operating environment. Department: Anschutz Operating Room Job Status: Full time, 40 hrs/week, eligible for benefits Shift: Day shift Monday through Friday (7:00am-3:30pm) Duties & Responsibilities Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or surgical technician (ST), assist in preparing the operating room (OR) for surgical procedures by setting up rooms per procedure preference cards. Work closely with co-workers to ensure availability of needed equipment, instruments, OR beds, and stretchers. Transport and deliver items such as equipment, medications (excluding controlled substances and IV chemotherapy drugs), and specimens throughout the facility. Perform low-level disinfection of equipment. Assist with transporting patients to the OR holding area, lifting, positioning, and/or transferring patients as indicated. Assist with timely turnover of rooms including cleaning, removing trash and linen, and removing equipment from room. Process post-surgery case carts when needed, including discarding sharps, emptying suction cannisters, disseminating unused supplies, and sending carts to the Sterile Processing Department. Minimum Qualifications Education: High school diploma or GED Experience: Healthcare experience preferred but not required. Certification: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers at time of hire.
