Java Backend Developer

Location: New York, NY & Dallas, TX (5 Days onsite) Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Java Backend Developer to join a high-performing engineering team supporting mission-critical trading applications for a leading Banking and Financial Services client. The ideal candidate will have strong experience building scalable backend applications using Java and Spring Boot, along with hands-on experience developing solutions for Trading Platforms within the Investment Banking, Capital Markets, or Financial Services domain. The successful candidate will work on enterprise-grade trading systems that require high availability, scalability, security, and low-latency processing. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, test, and maintain high-performance Java backend applications. Build scalable microservices and RESTful APIs supporting trading and financial systems. Develop solutions for high-volume transaction processing and low-latency applications. Collaborate with business analysts, traders, product owners, QA engineers, and DevOps teams to deliver business-critical functionality. Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to technical design decisions. Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability. Troubleshoot production issues and provide timely resolutions. Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following best engineering practices. Perform code reviews and ensure adherence to development standards. Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and backlog refinement. Required Technical Skills Strong experience with Java, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Security, Spring Data JPA, Hibernate, Microservices Architecture, REST API Development, Maven or Gradle, Git, SQL (Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server), Multithreading & Concurrency, Collections Framework JVM Performance Tuning, Design Patterns, Object-Oriented Programming Banking/Trading Domain Experience (Mandatory) Candidates must have experience working on Trading Platforms or with the Banking or Financial Services industry. Preferred Qualifications Experience building low-latency trading applications. Experience with distributed systems and high-throughput applications. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced Agile environment.
