Senior Backend Developer

Senior Backend DeveloperWe're looking for a Senior Backend Developer to join an Agile team responsible for a mission-critical web platform. You'll work on stabilizing and enhancing existing systems while driving modernization using Java and AWS. This role suits a pragmatic, hands-on engineer who enjoys owning backend systems end-to-end and shaping technical direction in a regulated environment.What You'll DoDesign, build, and maintain backend services using Java and Spring BootDevelop and evolve microservices and REST APIsModernize legacy backend components while ensuring system stabilityDesign and optimize PostgreSQL schemas and queriesIntegrate services with AWS (Lambda, S3, API Gateway, SQS, EventBridge, etc.)Apply event-driven and cloud-native patterns to improve scalability and resilienceWrite unit and integration tests and participate in code reviewsSupport production systems, debugging issues and improving observabilityCollaborate closely with Product, Frontend, QA, and DevOps teams in an Agile environmentWhat We're Looking ForStrong experience with Java and Spring BootSolid understanding of backend architecture, microservices, and design patternsHands-on experience with AWS servicesStrong SQL skills and experience with PostgreSQLExperience working with legacy systems and incremental modernizationFamiliarity with CI/CD pipelines and containerized deploymentsFinancial Services or Wealth Management experience is a plusOwnership mindset and strong problem-solving skillsTechnology StackLanguages & Frameworks: Java 23, Spring Boot 3.xArchitecture: Microservices, REST APIs, event-driven systemsDatabase: PostgreSQLCloud: AWSDevOps: Git, Gradle, Docker, CI/CDObservability: New Relic, ElasticsearchProductivity: GitHub Copilot
