Billing Clerk

The Billing Clerk is responsible for creating invoices and credit memos, updating customer files, and sending invoices and payment reminders to customers. They interact with customers outside the business and deal with the shipping department and order entry department internally. They keep an eye on revenue streams and overhead costs. They assist clients through phone calls and emails about their invoice issues.

Responsibilities

• Manually reviews all freight bills to ensure they comply with the customers' and the department's procedures
• Apply codes to bills to expedite the entry of the data in the data entry processes
• Questioning discrepancies between the processing record, customer's specific codes and freight bills, etc.
• Rejecting all bills which do not meet the company procedures
• Understands the basic transportation industry concepts and terms necessary for proper data entry
• Understands the fundamentals of the billing/payment process
• Logically plans workday by understanding and following all priorities
• Uses organization skills to insure no lost or missing bills

Requirements

• Proficient computer knowledge with accurate and quick keystrokes
• High level of concentration and self-motivation
• Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
• High school diploma required
