Job Title Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry (Inpatient Surgery Unit) Location Wilmington, NC | Acute Care Schedule / Job Type Contract | Night Shift | 3x12-Hour Shifts (18:45–07:15) | 36 or 48 hours per week accepted | Contracts of 13–26 weeks considered Key Responsibilities Provide direct inpatient nursing care to adult medical surgical and surgical stepdown patients with a wide range of diagnoses including cellulitis, appendicitis, cholecystitis, diverticulitis, trauma (MVA, GSW, falls), various cancers, bowel obstruction, peripheral vascular disease, and more Support and assist with a broad range of inpatient surgical procedures including cholecystectomy, appendectomy, hernia repair, TURP, ostomy creation or closure, wound debridement, tumor removal, amputations, and fem-pop bypass Manage and monitor specialty equipment including wound vacs, chest tubes, NG tubes/Corpak, JP drains, hemovac drains, and Penrose drains Utilize unit systems including Pyxis (medication), EPIC (documentation), and SBAR (communication) Float to other units or areas within the facility as needed Be available and prepared to serve on a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team; contract staff may be expected to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters Required Qualifications Active RN license – NC state license or Compact license accepted (pending licensure considered for submittal) BLS certification required Must pass EKG testing prior to start Minimum 2 years of RN experience required; first-time travelers with sufficient experience will be considered Comfort with patient ratios of 1:6 on a surgical/medicine inpatient floor Every other weekend availability required; no on-call required Preferred Experience / Skills Prior experience in a combination acuity unit (adult medical surgical and surgical stepdown) Familiarity with EPIC electronic health records Experience managing post-surgical patients and trauma presentations Comfort with specialty drainage and wound management equipment Why Join Us Opportunity to work in a dynamic, high-acuity inpatient surgical environment with exposure to a wide variety of surgical specialties and trauma cases Longer contract lengths (up to 26 weeks) available, offering stability and continuity in a well-established acute care setting Concentric Healthcare Staffing Job ID 790211.
