A postdoctoral position (Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D.) is available in the laboratory of Dr. Erica Schmitt in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Rheumatology/Immunology at WashU.
The Schmitt Lab studies immune dysregulation in inborn errors of immunity. We are specifically interested in investigating the mechanisms leading to T and B cell dysregulation. In complementary studies, we are investigating antigen-specific responses and mucosal tolerance using multiple different in vivo and in vitro models and human samples. Candidates with backgrounds in immunology and bioinformatic skills are strongly encouraged to apply. - Manages their own project, which should lead to a first author publication.
- Develops proficiency with mouse models of immune dysregulation and designing experiments to investigate mechanisms leading to immune dysregulation.
- Acquires enhanced skills in writing, public speaking, and critical evaluation of scientific documents.
- Presents scientific work both inside and outside the institution.
- Assists with grant preparation and reporting and submits training grant applications to support their work.
- Prepares and submits papers on research. Assists in the design of research experiments.
- Evaluates research findings and assists in the reporting of the results.
