Join us in shaping a new era in space and find a career that's built for you.As an ATLO (Assembly, Test, and Launch Operations) Mechanical Test Engineer on the Orion program, you will be responsible for the planning, preparation, and execution of mechanical integration activities for the Orion spacecraft for Artemis III, Artemis IV, and future missions.We are seeking a Mechanical Systems Test Engineer on the Orion Program responsible for the coordination of all aspects of test preparation and execution.Summary of Key Duties for this position:• Develop test plans, test procedures, and schematics for system and subsystem-level mechanical tests on the Orion spacecraft and test articles.• Understanding the Orion spacecraft assembly, integration and test flow and the associated processes including test execution, anomaly resolution, and paper closure.• Collaborate with team members across the program including systems engineering, CPEs/RSEs, software, test labs, manufacturing, quality, and NASA• Execute test procedures on current flight articles (Artemis III and Artemis IV) and future vehicles under Orion production.• Tests include acceptance testing, environmental testing and ground servicing of flight hardware (including fluids & pneumatic systems, mechanical structures and mechanisms) at the assembly, subsystem and spacecraft level of assembly.• Test activities will primarily take place at Kennedy Space Center, but the position will be required to support test efforts at other locations for periods of time.• Periodic off-shift and weekend work will be required.Plans, implements, tests, documents, and maintains solutions for the integration and testing of in-house developed and COTS/GOTS components, elements, subsystems and/or systems. Synthesizes customer contractual needs and requirements into system test solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule and cost constraints. Establishes functional and technical specifications and standards, solves hardware/software interface problems, defines input/output parameters, and ensures integration of the entire system or subsystem. Reviews, evaluates and derives requirements for testability, develops and directs preparation and execution of comprehensive test plans, procedures and schedules for complete systems and/or subsystems. Coordinates subsystem and/or system testing activities with programs and other organizations. Performs analysis of test results and prepares comprehensive subsystem and/or system level evaluation reports which verify and validate system performance. Writes discrepancy reports and performs integration regression testing to verify/validate incorporated fixes to software, components, subsystems and systems.Basic QualificationsBachelor's degree (Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or closely related field preferred) or equivalent experience/combined educationStrong interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to develop and maintain effective cross-functional relationships and an ability to work and lead in a team environmentExperience interpreting engineering drawings, schematics and test specifications for testing of hardwareWilling to work extended hours, including second/third shifts, holidays and weekends, in support of test activitiesThis position requires special access to support the program and requires the selected candidate to be a US Citizen.Desired SkillsMaster’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related disciplineWillingness to travel to other LM Space campuses to perform Test Engineering activitiesCertified Test Conductor (CTC) trainingExperience with structural, environmental or pneumatic testingFamiliarity using Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (pneumatic or fluids loading panels)Familiarity with fluid systems, such as Propulsion or Environmental Control and Life SupportExperience writing test plans, test procedures, or technical documentsCapable of working in a fast-paced environment with evolving requirements and dynamic schedulesKnowledge of the Orion spacecraft or experience on a production spacecraft programExperience using Automation Framework toolsThorough understanding of LM command media for Test EngineeringPay InformationFull-Time Salary Range: $85300.00 - $158300.00At Lockheed Martin, we know mission success starts with taking care of our people.
