Accountant- Finance and Analytics Officer

Accountant II – Finance and Analytics Officer Position Overview: Provide leadership to support data‑driven decision‑making through development, analysis, monitoring, and record‑keeping of budgetary activities for the Division of Academic Affairs. This role ensures effective stewardship of resources, compliance with fiscal policies, and strategic planning across the academic organization. Primary Responsibilities Develop, implement, and verify financial and operational practices aligned with the University and external standards. Lead the reconciliation process, monitor department spending, and provide early warning on deficits. Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and ad‑hoc fiscal reports and trend analyses. Approve and review financial transactions, invoices, and vendor billing issues. Monitor and analyze travel requests for compliance. Assist with day‑to‑day fiscal operations and budget planning processes. Coordinate and support the division budget development process. Assist departments with budget preparation and compliance monitoring. Analyze financial performance, produce detailed reports, and recommend corrective actions. Coordinate creation and analysis of strategic business plans. Qualifications Required: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field with advanced accounting knowledge. Minimum five years as a budget officer or analyst, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of fiscal management policies, internal controls, and finance practices. Experience with Banner, Finance modules, automated financial systems, and advanced proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Logical and critical thinking, strong oral and written communication, problem‑solving, and organizational skills. Ability to work under stress, meet deadlines, and handle multiple functions simultaneously. Positive, team‑player attitude and effective relationship building across diverse groups. Education & Credentials Bachelor’s degree with 12 credit hours of accounting coursework; or Associate’s degree in Accounting; or Associate’s degree in Business or related discipline with 12 credit hours of accounting coursework. All degrees must be from appropriately accredited institutions.
