Vice President of Finance

Vice President of Finance | Charlotte, NC Retail Sports Management (RSM) is seeking a strategic, hands-on Vice President of Finance to join the leadership team in Charlotte, North Carolina. This role will serve as a key business partner to executive leadership, leading the finance function while helping the organization scale through stronger financial visibility, improved operational discipline, and data-driven decision-making. What You'll Do: Serve as a key member of the leadership team to lead development of the company's financial strategy and long-term planning Lead all core financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and monthly and quarterly reporting Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and vendor payments to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and financial discipline Establish and maintain financial controls, policies, and procedures that support operational efficiency and protect profitability Lead the month-end close process, transitioning ownership from external accounting partners to an efficient, accurate, and scalable in-house finance function Partner with executive leadership to evaluate business performance and support decision-making across pricing, staffing, growth initiatives, client strategy and corporate transactions Prepare and present financial updates to leadership and board-level stakeholders Develop financial insights into client, project, and service line profitability to identify trends, risks, and opportunities Build and maintain financial models and scenario analyses to support planning, hiring, and growth initiatives Provide financial input on contracts, partnerships, and new business opportunities to support informed decision‑making Deliver actionable insights into margin drivers, cost structure, and utilization to improve overall business performance Partner cross‑functionally with account and production teams to align financial plans with operational execution Lead, develop, and mentor the Finance team while fostering strong cross‑functional partnerships What We're Looking For: Required Qualifications 10+ years of progressive finance and/or accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a senior leadership role. Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field required. Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, reporting, financial controls, and financial planning. Demonstrated ability to translate financial data into actionable business insights and recommendations. Experience building or improving finance processes, reporting, workflows, and systems in a hands‑on leadership capacity. Proficiency with accounting systems and advanced Excel/Google Sheets; experience with tools such as QuickBooks, HubSpot, and ADP is helpful. Experience supporting M&A, post‑close integration, exit preparation, board reporting, and/or investor‑facing financial communication preferred. Preferred / Plus Factors Experience in an agency, project‑based, professional services, sports marketing, retail marketing, or related services environment strongly preferred. Experience within a start‑up, entrepreneurial company, or small growing organization is a plus. Experience leading or supporting ERP, financial system, reporting platform, or broader business system implementations is a plus.
