Accounting Manager

Manage, mentor, and guide a team of direct reports Lead monthly team meetings and one-on-one check-ins Conduct mid-year and year-end performance evaluations Support staff development through goal setting, training, and regular performance assessments Collaborate with Assistant Controllers to assign and balance property portfolios Develop and implement Performance Improvement Plans when necessary Description CORE RESPONSIBILITIES Manage, mentor, and guide a team of direct reports Lead monthly team meetings and one-on-one check-ins Conduct mid-year and year-end performance evaluations Support staff development through goal setting, training, and regular performance assessments Collaborate with Assistant Controllers to assign and balance property portfolios Develop and implement Performance Improvement Plans when necessary Operational Oversight Ensure timely and accurate updates to internal tracking systems Promote accountability and ensure timely delivery of financial reports to clients and internal stakeholders Support adherence to accounting policies and procedures Assist the accounting team during month-end close to ensure deadlines are met and financial integrity is maintained Staffing & Property Management Participate in staffing decisions, including interviewing and hiring candidates Oversee onboarding of new properties and maintain a small, rotating portfolio as needed Coordinate onboarding and offboarding of properties proactively Training & Documentation Provide training to accounting personnel to support skill development and future growth Assist in creating and maintaining training documentation Develop and present departmental policies and procedures regularly Financial Review & Compliance Attend and actively engage in departmental and accounting management meetings Ownership of internal review inbox as a collaborative team, along with Accounting Managers and Assistant Controllers Review monthly financial reporting packages, distributions, and management fee calculations Manage user access and maintenance in banking platforms Assist in the annual review of CAM reconciliations and budget processes Communication & Collaboration Maintain proactive communication with Assistant Controllers and the Director of Property Accounting regarding key activities and concerns Serve as a collaborative team member, providing support and coverage as needed We are an equal opportunity employer. Requirements POSITION REQUIREMENTS 5+ years of experience in Real Estate property accounting Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting preferred CPA license is a plus but not required MRI and Yardi experience preferred Detail-oriented with the ability to multi task Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Work, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat The ability to quickly learn new software programs Strong customer service and organizational skills Effective team player who also possesses the ability to work independently Hours are 8:30-5:00 Monday through Friday with remote working opportunities Supervisory Responsibilities Team Leadership & Development Manage, mentor, and guide a team of direct reports Lead monthly team meetings and one-on-one check-ins Conduct mid-year and year-end performance evaluations Support staff development through goal setting, training, and regular performance assessments Collaborate with Assistant Controllers to assign and balance property portfolios Develop and implement Performance Improvement Plans when necessary Education And Experience Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) from a four-year college or university.
