Position Details Work Shift: Night Shift - 12 (United States of America) Scheduled Weekly Hours: 24 Department: GCMC Emergency Department Overview of Position Plans, provides and/or supervises the nursing care of patients in an efficient and caring manner. Coordinates care planning with other caregivers and with other areas, adheres to universal precautions, and is compliant with infection control policies. Works independently with minimal supervision. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Provides compassionate, quality patient care in accordance with physician orders in a warm and friendly manner. Takes and records measurements or readings. Assesses condition and provides treatment for care of patient. Administers prescribed medications. Provides leadership while working collaboratively with other care givers on the unit. Willingly floats between campuses. Demonstrates knowledge, skills and ability related to patient care and normal procedures in the Emergency Department within own scope of practice as demonstrated in completion of annual competencies. Assists with orientation process of new staff as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Current Ohio RN License and ADN. One year experience in acute care setting. CPR certification within 30 days of employment. Ability to read, write and explain or describe moderately complex information to other hospital staff. Attention to detail. Ability to communicate well in an oral and written manner, as well as the ability to observe, assess, guide, and evaluate others. Ability to read, calculate and prepare medication, as well as the ability to observe and analyze any resulting reactions and to apply clinical knowledge. Ability to collect data, interpret findings, set priorities and carry out established plan. Demonstrates competence in age-specific patient care as necessary. PALS certification within 12 months after completion of orientation, provided the appropriate classes are available/offered within this period. TNCC certification within 12 months of hire date, provided the appropriate classes are available/offered within this period. ACLS certification within 12 months of hire date, provided the appropriate classes are available/offered within this period. BCRA certification during nursing orientation. ENPC certification within 12 months after completion of orientation, provided the appropriate classes are available/offered within this period. PATIENT CENTERED CARE & BEHAVIORAL EXPECTATIONS 1. Responds to requests in an appropriate and timely manner. Exits patient/customer encounters courteously, asking if there are additional needs that can be addressed. 3. Promotes Patient and Employee Safety Demonstrates safe Patient Handling (i.e. transfers, transport, care administration, nutrition, medication, etc.) Demonstrates safe Materials Handling (i.e. appropriate use and disposal of chemicals, infectious wastes, etc.) Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of Infectious Disease precautions and use of proper protective equipment Demonstrates Slips/Trips and Falls Awareness. Actively contributes to maintaining a safe, clean and quiet environment. WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 1. Regularly required to stand, walk, talk, hear, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with the hands and arms, and taste or smell. 2. The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. 3. Regularly lift or move up to 10 pounds; frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds; and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. 4.
