Job Title: Forklift Operator
Work Location: Route 7 and Grace Way , Canaan, CT 06018
Duration: 12 Months
Pay Rate: $23.00/hr on W2 (+10% shift differential)
Schedule Time: Night Shift; 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM (40 hours per week).

Position Summary:

• Responsible for the safe, accurate movement of products within the distribution center.
• Operates material handling equipment (MHE) and uses automated tracking systems to maintain site inventory accuracy and ensure product integrity.

Responsibilities:

• Transport palletized product within the distribution center (unloading, double-deep put away, bulk/full pallet picking, loading, and replenishment).
• Operate material handling equipment, including high reach, counterbalance, electric pallet jack, and dock stockers.
• Utilize RF Scanners and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) to track inventory accurately.
• Follow site safety procedures at all times, including wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety vests and safety shoes.
• Cross-train across various distribution functions to provide backup support when required.

Required Skills and Competencies:

• Forklift Expertise: Intermediate experience operating either a high reach or counterbalance forklift is required.
• Certification: Ability to obtain a site forklift certification within 2 days of employment.
• Technical Skills : Ability to operate MHE, utilize RF scanners, and demonstrate basic computer literacy.
• Communication & Operations: Ability to read and interpret distribution documents in English with basic analytical, organizational, and prioritization skills.
• Preferred: Previous experience with Manhattan WMS.

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
• A minimum of 1 year of relevant warehouse/distribution experience is required in lieu of a High School Diploma or GED.

Additional Information:

• Physical Requirements: Regular walking, standing, stooping, reaching, and repetitive motion of hands/wrists. May require lifting over 50 lbs in designated areas. Normal field of vision corrected to 20/40 in each eye and adequate hearing to safely operate MHE in a production/distribution environment.
• Work Environment: Moderate to loud noise levels with work around moving mechanical equipment.
• Pre-Employment Requirements : Requires a 10-panel drug screening and may require a mandatory medical evaluation in compliance with occupational health standards.
