Title: Overnight Forklift Operator

Location: Canaan, CT 06018

Pay: $25.30 per hour

Schedule: 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, Alternating Shift

Employment Type: W2 Assignment with potential for extension or conversion to FTE based on business needs

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Forklift Operator to support warehouse and distribution operations at a large medical manufacturing and distribution organization in Canaan, CT. This position focuses on safely moving products throughout the distribution center, maintaining accurate inventory, and ensuring materials are handled properly from receiving through shipment.

The Forklift Operator will operate a variety of material handling equipment while moving palletized products throughout the facility. Daily work may include unloading deliveries, putting inventory away in double-deep and bulk storage locations, picking full pallets, replenishing inventory, and preparing products for shipment. The role also uses RF scanners and warehouse management systems to track product movement and maintain inventory accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate high reach and counterbalance forklifts, electric pallet jacks, dock stockers, and other material handling equipment.
• Move palletized products throughout the facility for receiving, storage, picking, replenishment, and shipping.
• Use RF scanners and warehouse management systems to accurately locate, track, and move inventory.
• Handle products carefully to maintain product integrity throughout the distribution process.
• Follow all site safety procedures and required PPE standards, including safety shoes and a safety vest.
• Cross-train in other areas of the distribution center and provide backup support when needed.
• Work safely and remain aware of surroundings when operating equipment around other employees and warehouse traffic.

Qualifications

• Previous experience operating a high reach or counterbalance forklift is required.
• Ability to obtain forklift certification within 2 days of employment.
• Previous warehouse, distribution, or material handling experience is preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED is preferred; at least 1 year of relevant experience is required in lieu of a diploma or GED.
• Experience using RF scanners and warehouse management systems.
• Ability to read and interpret distribution documents in English.
• Basic computer, organizational, analytical, and prioritization skills.
• General knowledge of warehouse and distribution operations.
• Experience with Manhattan WMS is preferred.
