Location:
1615 M Street, NW Washington, D.C. 20419. This work requires on-site performance and is not eligible for remote work.

DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES:
To support an independent quasi-judicial agency within the Executive Branch of the Federal government established to protect Federal merit systems against partisan political and other prohibited personnel practices and to ensure adequate protection for federal employees against abuses by agency management. The Board serves as the highest-level administrative tribunal in deciding appeals relating to the personnel actions and decisions of federal agencies and the Office of Personal Management.
RESPONSABILITIES:
Receives incoming telephone calls and visitors, determines the nature of business, and tactfully refers calls to the appropriate staff member.
Assist with receipt and distribution of incoming mail for the agency. Create, tab, and tab paper files, indexes, and other documents as needed.
Data entry and typing is done consistently on a personal computer. Uses a variety of office equipment in conducting the work of the office, including but not limited to personal computers, fax machine, copy machine, mail equipment, scanner, etc.
Communicates with court reporters and external customers to schedule telephone conference and in-person and video hearings. Initiates inquiries regarding case processing and responds to appeal inquiries on behalf of the Administrative Judge (AJ) of the office.
At the direction of the Supervisory Paralegal Specialist to respond to the public, appellants, and their representatives, concerning potential, pending and past appeals and general Board procedures.
REQUIRED AND DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Required 2-4 years of experience in a related legal assistant area.
Has very basic knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures in the legal field.
Schedule:
8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (1/2 hour for lunch) Monday thru Friday except Federal holidays or when the MSPB facility is closed due to local or national emergencies, administrative closings, or similar MSPB directed facility closings.
Hourly Rate:
This position offers a competitive hourly rate of $21.96, along with a comprehensive benefits package including medical insurance, paid holidays, paid time off (PTO) and sick leave accrual, 401(k) with company matching contributions, and additional benefits/perks.
Clearance Level Required: Employment is contingent upon successfully completing any required background checks, in accordance with applicable law.
