Program Director

Program Director - Hampton, VA 23668. Description Program Director will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for a multi-year grant initiative designed to positively influence and inform the character and digital lives of college freshmen and sophomores. Program Director is responsible for the development of the grant program, deciding upon funding priorities and managing the application and review process to oversee grantee relationships, monitoring performance, and reporting on impact. This role requires strategic, human-first strong program management skills, experience in grants management, and the ability to build trusted relationships with funders, grantees, and community stakeholders. This is a grant-funded position. Continuation of the position is contingent upon the continuation of related grant funding. Examples of Duties Develop and refine the strategic vision, goals, and funding priorities for the grant initiative in collaboration with senior leadership and the board. Stay current trends, best practices, and policy developments in relevant field to inform program strategy. Represent the initiative publicly at conferences, convenings, and partner meetings. Ensure compliance with all funder requirements, regulations, and internal policies, including documentation. Develop and manage the initiative's annual budget, tracking expenditure and forecasting needs. Serve as the primary point of contact for grantees, providing guidance, troubleshooting, and technical assistance. Foster a culture of trust, transparency, and partnership with funded organizations. Monitor grantee progress through reports and regular check-ins. Prepare timely, accurate reports for funders, the board, and other stakeholders. Use data and grantee feedback to drive continuous improvement of the program. Collaborate cross-functionally with finance, communications, and development teams. Typical Qualifications Bachelor's degree in public administration, nonprofit management, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in college student development, program management, and nonprofit leadership. Demonstrated experience managing grant programs, including compliance, budgeting, and reporting. Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing reports for funders or boards. Supplemental Information Must possess professional and organizational skills.
