Nature & Scope:

Positional Overview

Our client is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor to lead a team of Manufacturing Engineers responsible for developing, optimizing, and sustaining manufacturing processes. Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, this role provides day-to-day leadership and technical direction to drive process improvement, operational performance, and engineering excellence.

The successful candidate will be a hands-on engineering leader who develops talent, fosters accountability, removes barriers, and ensures improvement initiatives deliver measurable, sustainable results. The focus of this position is supervision and development of Manufacturing Engineers and technical professionals rather than product design engineering.

Role & Responsibility:

Tasks That Will Lead  To Your Success

• Lead, coach, mentor, and develop a team of Manufacturing Engineers and technical professionals.
• Establish clear priorities, expectations, performance standards, and accountability while conducting regular 1:1s, performance reviews, goal setting, and career development discussions.
• Build team capability through individual development plans, cross-training, and expanded technical responsibilities.
• Own Manufacturing Engineering performance against key KPIs, including scrap, yield, OEE, downtime, process capability, and productivity.
• Partner with Operations to align engineering priorities with production requirements and business objectives.
• Lead efforts to stabilize processes, improve process capability, and establish repeatable, controlled manufacturing methods.
• Drive performance reviews to identify losses, prioritize improvements, and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure standard work is developed, trained, followed, and sustained while establishing clear process ownership and accountability.
• Lead cross-functional efforts to resolve process failures, recurring defects, scrap, yield losses, downtime, and other manufacturing challenges.
• Identify and execute continuous improvement projects that enhance safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost performance.
• Analyze process variation, bottlenecks, and constraints and implement solutions to improve throughput, capacity, and consistency.
• Support equipment, tooling, fixture, automation, and process improvement initiatives.
• Maintain a strong presence on the manufacturing floor to understand conditions, coach employees, and support execution.
• Use data to prioritize issues, balance short-term production needs with long-term improvements, and drive issues to closure.
• Communicate priorities, risks, resource needs, and technical issues effectively to stakeholders at all levels.

 

Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or a related Engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing engineering or related manufacturing experience with progressive technical responsibility.
• Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience, including supervising, mentoring, or leading engineers or other technical professionals.
• Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles, standard work, 5S, and structured problem-solving methodologies.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze complex manufacturing challenges and implement effective solutions.
• Proven communication, organizational, project management, and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions.

 

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a high-mix, precision manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of thermocouples, RTDs, sensors, MIMS (Mineral Insulated Metal Sheath) cable, aerospace products, or similar engineered products.
• Lean Six Sigma certification and/or demonstrated success leading continuous improvement initiatives.
• Experience applying statistical analysis, process capability studies, and data-driven decision-making to improve manufacturing performance.

 

Team & Environment

• Reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and leads Manufacturing Engineering Technicians, Manufacturing Engineers, and Senior Manufacturing Engineers.
• Hands-on, floor-facing leadership role working across office and industrial manufacturing environments.
• Highly collaborative environment partnering with Operations and cross-functional teams to improve manufacturing performance.
• Frequent presence in manufacturing areas requiring walking, standing, stair climbing, and use of PPE.
• This position is fully onsite in Buffalo, NY.
