Job Title:  Senior Nuclear Safety and Criticality Consultant

Location:  Work shall be conducted at the Hanford Field Office (HFO), the Hanford Site and Richland, WA. This position is telework and remote eligible at the discretion of the Technical Monitor (TM) in consultation with the Contracting Officer (CO). If in-person support is identified as required for any reason and for any length of time by the TM or CO, the contractor shall report for duty in person as requested.

Citizenship:  US citizenship required

Salary : $75.00 - $100.00 hourly range (exempt) - 1440 hours. You will receive a competitive total rewards package that is applicable to the U.S. only. The salary range may vary based on relevant, work-related experience, skillset, educational background and Hanford Site experience.

AttainX, Inc. is in search of a Senior Nuclear Safety and Criticality Consultant to support our government client, the Department of Energy (DOE) at HFO, supporting the Assistant Manager for Safety and Quality (AMSQ) in the Nuclear Safety Division (NSD). Support includes Central Plateau, Tank Farms, Direct Feed Low Activity Waste (DFLAW) and High Level Waste (HLW) Facility.

Required Qualifications:

• BS/BA degree in engineering, science or related field

Experience consulting or contributing on complex projects, including providing

• strategic, management or technical assistance to significant projects or programs in a senior capacity and/or as a consultant
• Specialized knowledge of criticality safety and implementing the American National Standards Institute (ANSI)/American Nuclear Society (ANS)-8
  Standards
• Experience working at a senior level to improve major projects and programs
• Experience consulting or contributing to organizational or technical issues and
  assists in problem solving
• Successful experience in technical or management roles and proven skills in
  developing plans that yield positive organizational improvements
• Expert level knowledge of criticality and nuclear safety related controls and
  requirements
• Working level knowledge of HFO mission, activities and priorities
• Working level knowledge of DOE program and project management practices,
  policies and procedures
• Excellent communications skills
• Knowledge of Microsoft (MS) Word, PowerPoint and/or other MS Office tools

Preferred Qualifications:

• Senior level knowledge of nuclear safety with more than 20 years of experience
• Expert level knowledge of criticality safety with more than 10 years of experience
• Working level knowledge of environmental, worker safety and health, quality assurance and related controls and requirements

 

Job Duties:

• Provide mission-critical support at the Hanford Site, providing senior level nuclear safety consulting services in the area of program and project management.
• Perform criticality safety consulting services related to One Hanford Program needs, focusing on special activities, identified problem areas and support any criticality safety related needs by direct observation and involvement in relevant activities as determined by the TM.
• Provide reviews of contractor reports and submittals to One Hanford procedures and DOE-STD-3009, DOE-STD-3007, DOE-STD-1104 and 10 CFR 830.
• Provide periodic oversight of criticality related operations conducted by One Hanford projects to One Hanford procedures and DOE-STD- 3009 and DOE-STD-3007, as appropriate.
• Assist in the preparation of safety evaluation reports, or other approval documentation, associated with the above related activities.
• Assist in performance of readiness and startup assessment activities.
• Assist review of Documented Safety Analysis (DSA) safety management programs and evaluation of support documents.
• Deliverables shall be accomplished in accordance with One Hanford procedures and directions provided by the TM.
• All work performed under this task order must be in compliance with the requirements
  set by the Quality Assurance Implementation Plan (DOE-PPD-QA-50552) and associated
  implementing procedures.
