Overview Welder position in the Fire Fabrication shop at Progressive Pipe Fabricators. Uses a universal welder to make cuts and welds on steel pipe. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Read blueprints and drawings Take measurements to plan layouts Set up welding machine according to specifications Weld components using semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety Test welds to ensure quality Weld by hand any leaks found in quality penetration tests Other duties as assigned Qualifications 4+ years of welding experience Read a tape measure Pipe welding experience and welding certificates a plus Dependable with good attendance and a positive attitude Good work ethic and willingness to learn Strong communication skills (verbal and written) Ability to work Saturdays (availability will affect attendance record) Must be 18 years or older Attention to detail; ability to follow directions and communicate with others Ability to push, pull, or lift up to 50 lbs regularly Ability to stand, bend, twist, and walk for 8-12 hour shifts Ability to pass a drug test Regular and reliable attendance; ability to work extended hours and weekends as required Notice to Prospective Employees There have been fraudulent postings and emails regarding job openings.
