Heavy Equipment OperatorOperate heavy equipment such as bulldozers, skid steers, front-end loaders and excavators. Employees must be able to meet and comply with the manufacturer's weight limitation safety rating and recommendations for any equipment associated with performing their duties, including the 300 lb. safety rating for ladders (both portable and affixed) and fall arrest equipment.Primary Activities and Responsibilities:Ensure compliance with all railroad rules and regulations for safety, operations and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA)Operate heavy equipment such as bulldozers, skid steers, front-end loaders and excavatorsWork around all types of moving equipmentPerform a variety of support and clean-up activities in the dock areas as well as other general laborer duties involving cleaning, sweeping, and handling materialsMiscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by managerPay Rate: $40.67/hour full rateTraining: On the job training.Minimum Qualifications:High School Diploma/GED18 years of age or olderValid Driver's LicenseTwo years experience operating heavy equipmentPhysical Requirements:Heavy work, lifting up to 70 pounds occasionally and up to 100 pounds on a rare basisReach/handle/finger/feelDemonstrate auditory and visual acuity/tracking/inspectionBasic Competencies:Verbal comprehension (Understand oral and written communications)Communication skills (provide clear instructions/directions)Reasoning skills (problem solving and troubleshooting skills)Basic MathJob Requirements:Work safely to prevent on the job accidents and injuriesWear protective equipment such as hard hat, hearing protection, or safety-toe bootsWork hours may include a nonstandard workweek, overtime, and various shift workComplete annual training and pass safety rules examinationsThe applicant selected may be required to successfully complete a background checkMust pass all required assessmentsMust pass a background screeningMust pass a post-offer medical examination, including a drug testThis position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement and membership is req.
