ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN
U.S. Fleet Forces Command
Compensation GS-11: $85,447 to $111,087 per year. GS-12: $102,415 to $133,142 per year. Duties Assess the need for improvements to Master Clock and time transfer electronics systems, subsystems, components, connections, and associated electrical power systems; design, modify, build, assemble, repair, and maintain them. Physically install electronic circuits and cables, move equipment and clocks, perform general maintenance, and similar work. Assist different time transfer divisions with their respective missions. Recognize the need for new electronic techniques, develop them using non‑standard theory, and consider the complex dependencies between the Master Clock and other time transfer systems and subsystems. Requirements Must be a U.S. Citizen. Must be determined suitable for federal employment. Must participate in the direct‑deposit pay program. New employees to the Department of the Navy must pass the E‑Verify employment verification check. Within the Department of Defense, the appointment of retired military members within 180 days following retirement is subject to 5 U.S. Code § 3326. Males born after 12‑31‑59 must be registered for Selective Service. Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Top Secret/SCI security clearance prior to duty entry; failure to obtain or maintain clearance may result in withdrawal of a job offer or removal. MSP/PPP applicants must currently hold the required security clearance. Successful completion of a pre‑employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. Position may require travel to CONUS and OCONUS; ability to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods is necessary. This is a Mission Essential position; must ensure continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision. GS‑12 Qualifications At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to GS‑11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service, or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Experience independently identifying the need for improvements to Master Clock and time transfer electronic systems, subsystems, components, connections, and associated electrical power systems. Experience physically installing electronic circuits and cables, moving equipment and clocks, general maintenance, and similar work. Experience writing formal reports and publications on developed procedures. Experience performing routine installations and calibrations of GNSS systems. Experience training other electronic technicians in standard and non‑standard techniques developed by the incumbent. Experience recognizing requirements, developing new electronic techniques for monitoring performance, and adapting available analytical tools for the problem at hand. Experience carrying out acceptance tests of commercially procured equipment to verify contractual obligations. GS‑11 Qualifications At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to GS‑10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service, or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Experience using a variety of guidelines, manuals, and standard reference materials that are not completely applicable to the work or have gaps, requiring judgment and initiative to interpret and adapt them to specific cases and problems. Experience utilizing a variety of processes to complete assignments requiring independent judgment and skill to interpret and analyze considerable amounts of data, plan work, and refine methods and techniques. Experience applying a broad number of established methods, procedures, and techniques that affect the operation of systems and equipment and the timeliness and economy of operations, service, and equipment.
