Onsite | Belleville, NJ | Front Desk- Patient facing role Schedule: Monday-Friday: 8:30am-5pm est Priority: ASAP Position Overview We are seeking a Health Information Specialist to provide call support, ROI processing, faxing, burning images to CDs, storage ordering/reviewing. This is a patient-facing role that plays a critical part in ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant handling of medical record requests. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with patients, is detail-oriented, and is looking for long-term growth opportunities within a healthcare organization . Key Responsibilities Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Serve as the front desk point of contact for patient walk-ins requesting medical records or releases Provide phone support to patients, providers, and authorized requestors Process Release of Information (ROI) requests accurately and timely Fax, scan, and manage incoming and outgoing medical record requests Burn medical images to CDs and share images electronically as required Support client relationship management through professional communication Assist with reporting and administrative duties such as data entry and email Ensure compliance with HIPAA, privacy regulations, and facility policies Training & Onboarding Datavant DHISC training Hands-on, role-specific training during the first 30 days Qualifications & Skills Strong customer service and communication skills Comfortable working in a patient-facing, front desk environment Detail-oriented with the ability to manage confidential information Reliable, punctual, and professional Ability to multitask and work independently Education Requirement High School Diploma or GED required Benefits & Growth Opportunities Full-time benefits , including: Medical, dental, and vision coverage 401(k) retirement plan Tuition reimbursement Paid Time Off , including major holidays In-person role with opportunities for growth and advancement within the company What you will bring to the table: High school diploma or equivalent. (Must be from an Accredited Institute recognized by the State Dept. of Education.) Able to work overtime during peak seasons when required. Basic computer proficiency. Comfortable utilizing phones, fax machines, printers, and other general office equipment on a regular basis. Professional verbal and written communication skills in the English language. Detail and quality oriented as it relates to accurate and compliant information for medical records. Strong data entry skills. Must be able to work with minimum supervision responding to changing priorities and role needs. Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks. Able to respond to requests in a fast-paced environment. Ability to stay organized while working quickly. Strong attention to detail is also required. Passing annual Introductory HIPAA examination. (Testing to be given annually in accordance with employee review.) Required to take and pass a 90-day ROI Certification course with a score of 85% or higher. To ensure the safety of patients and staff, many of our clients require post-offer health screenings and proof and/or completion of various vaccinations such as the flu shot, Tdap, COVID-19, etc. Any requests to be exempted from these requirements will be reviewed by Datavant Human Resources and determined on a case-case basis.
