Cell Culture Media Development Scientist

Are you a creative scientist passionate about advancing cell culture bioprocessing? A top-tier biopharmaceutical leader in Grand Island, NY, is seeking a Scientist I - R&D to join their innovative BioProduction team. In this role, you will plan and conduct high-impact studies to develop novel cell culture media formulations and optimize processes for recombinant therapeutics, gene therapy, and cell therapy applications.

responsibilities:

• Execute experimental studies for cell culture media development and application data generation.
• Analyze experimental data, troubleshoot R&D workflows, and write comprehensive technical reports.
• Develop robust laboratory protocols and maintain accurate electronic lab notebooks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze cell culture metabolism and protein production.
• Investigate and implement new methods and technologies to optimize bioprocessing workflows.
• Ensure lab safety protocols and applicable industry standards are strictly followed.

 
qualifications:
Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Biochemical Engineering, Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field with 1+ years of experience.
• Expertise in small-scale mammalian cell culture with various cell lines (e.g., CHO, HEK293, T cells).
• Knowledge of bioprocessing workflows, including protein production, vaccine, or cell therapy applications.
• Demonstrated data analysis, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional weekend work.

Preferred:

• Familiarity with small-scale bioreactors and related laboratory equipment.
• Experience with Statistical Design of Experiments (DoE) and statistical software.
