Per Scholas is seeking a proven, results-driven Director of Development to lead fundraising efforts for the Boston market. The Director will be responsible for achieving Boston revenue goals by managing a high-value portfolio, advancing local, state, and federal government funding opportunities, collaborating with national channel teams on larger and multi-market investments that benefit the Boston market, and coordinating local fundraising and growth strategies in partnership with market and organizational leadership. This is a highly collaborative position, requiring close partnership and coordination with fundraising channels, development operations, program teams, and market leadership. The ideal candidate is a strategic, entrepreneurial leader with a proven track record of securing at least $5M annually through corporate partnerships, foundation grants, individual donors, and government contracts.WHAT YOU’LL DO
In this role, you will focus on four core priorities: (1) generating revenue for the Boston market through your direct portfolio, (2) advancing government funding opportunities that support Boston programming and growth, (3) collaborating with channel teams on larger or multi-market opportunities that include Boston, and (4) coordinating fundraising and growth efforts across the Boston market. Revenue Generation & Portfolio Management Manage and grow a portfolio of partners with responsibility for generating new and renewed revenue to meet or exceed annual fundraising goals for the Boston market. Cultivate and steward relationships with corporate, philanthropic, and public sector partners to deepen engagement and expand investment in Per Scholas Boston programs and market growth. Identify and pursue multi-year and multi-market funding opportunities that support the long-term sustainability and expansion of the Boston market. Government Funding Development Partner with the Government Relations & Contracts team to identify, pursue, and support local, state, and federal funding opportunities that advance Per Scholas Boston programs and growth. Support the development of government funding proposals and contracts by coordinating with program, finance, and compliance teams to align opportunities with workforce training initiatives in the Boston market. Contribute Boston market insights, relationships, and workforce development expertise to strengthen Per Scholas' positioning for public funding opportunities. Coordinate engagement with Massachusetts public-sector partners in collaboration with the Government Relations & Contracts team. Strategic Partnership Collaboration Collaborate with national channel teams (Corporate, Foundation, Government, and Individual Giving) to pursue larger or multi-market funding opportunities that include or benefit the Boston market. Coordinate partner engagement and strategy across local and national teams to ensure alignment on cultivation, proposal development, and stewardship. Support the advancement of complex partnerships that require coordination across multiple markets or internal stakeholders. Local Market Fundraising & Growth Coordination Coordinate fundraising activity across the Boston market in partnership with market leadership and national development teams. Support national and regional leadership site visits, funder meetings, and partner engagement opportunities within the Boston market. Contribute to the development and execution of Boston market growth strategies aligned with Per Scholas' broader organizational expansion priorities.WHAT YOU’LL BRING
Professional Qualifications 7+ years of progressive revenue-generating experience in fundraising, business development, or corporate partnerships, with demonstrated success securing six- and seven-figure gifts. Proven track record of building diverse, sustainable revenue portfolios that include philanthropy, corporate partnerships, sponsorships, earned revenue, and government grants. Experience developing or supporting competitive government proposals and managing public-sector relationships is strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of the Greater Boston and Massachusetts philanthropic, corporate, and workforce development landscape. Exceptional relationship management and influencing skills, with the ability to engage senior executives, funders, public officials, and community leaders. Expertise in proposal writing, case-making, and pitching to both philanthropic and business audiences. Highly data-driven and results-oriented, with a history of meeting and exceeding revenue targets. Proficiency with Salesforce or other CRM tools and strong financial acumen to manage forecasts and revenue tracking. Willingness to travel 15–20%. Passionate about advancing equity, workforce development, and Per Scholas' mission. #LI-Hybrid For this role specifically, we are targeting a salary range of $110,000- $115,000, where the difference in salary is typically determined by several factors, including geography in which the selected candidate resides, and alignment with qualifications and experience. Holidays & PTO: Full-Time Per Scholas team members enjoy over 40 days of paid time off each year through a mix of holidays, vacation, and sick/personal time! All employees are eligible for Holiday pay upon hire (a total of 22 holidays annually, including a week off for Independence day and a week before the New Year). Full-Time Benefits Eligible employees also receive 80 Wellness Hours to use for Sick, Safe, or Personal reasons and accrue Vacation at a rate of 8 hours at the beginning of every month, supporting rest, recharge, and work-life balance. Vacation accruals increase with tenure. Part-time employees are afforded time off on a prorated basis and in accordance with local requirements. Comprehensive Medical Coverage: Benefit eligible employees can choose from multiple medical plans through Cigna or Kaiser Permanente (where available), with options to fit your needs. Eligible employees also have access to a Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) that reimburses eligible out-of-pocket expenses, up to $4,000 for individuals and $8,000 for families. Dental and Vision Insurance: Eligible employees can select from two dental plan options and a vision plan. Employees who waive medical coverage receive employer paid dental and vision premiums. Retirement Savings: 401(k) plan with a current 100% employer match on contributions up to 6%, eligible employees are offered entry and full vesting after 90 days with the company. Employee Assistance Program (EAP): Free, confidential, 24/7 access to counseling, legal support, and financial resources for employees and their household members Parental Leave: Eligible employees are offered up to 6 weeks of 100% paid parental leave to support employees as they welcome a new child and bond with their family. Additional Benefits & Perks: Eligible employees have access to employer-paid life and AD&D Insurance, as well as employer-paid short-term disability coverage, with the option to elect additional life coverage and long-term disability insurance. Flexible Spending accounts are available for healthcare, dependent care, and commuting expenses.
