Health Services Provider (R.N)

Perform professional health services duties required in the school setting. Minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree in nursing, a licensed registered nurse, certification in CPR, and the ability to work with all students. Required skills include strength, agility, dexterity, and oral and written communication skills. The position also requires the ability to quickly learn procedures, prepare written reports, and follow directions. The nurse must follow Nurse Practice Acts of Virginia, possess high moral standards and integrity, and have a valid Virginia driver's license.

Performance responsibilities include serving as a health consultant to pupils, parents/guardians, teachers, and other school personnel; providing health education materials and information; updating annual physical examinations; participating in epidemiological investigations; providing direct nursing care; supervising/observing students during medication administration; discussing individual physical problems; serving as a resource person for the classroom; complying with FERPA/HIPAA laws; ensuring OSHA standards are met; maintaining a daily log of student visits; attending staff meetings and conferences; participating in staff development; maintaining up-to-date equipment; following procedures for suspected child abuse and neglect; supervising the Health Services Paraprofessional; and performing other duties as assigned by the building administrator.
