POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a Sheet Metal Lea d for 2nd shift. The Sheet Metal Lead is responsible for directing and coordinating daily sheet metal fabrication activities in support of the directions given by the Production Manager. In addition, the Lead provides employees in the department with On-the-Job Training, reinforces plant organization and cleanliness, assists the supervisor with employee development, participates in team meetings, schedules activities, and serves as safety monitor. Provides input to the Supervisor regarding employee development, leads team meetings as well as Team-Based Corrective Action meetings. The Lead ensures a safe work environment by enforcing the behavioral based safety program. In all actions, supports Sonaca North America’s Quality Policy, Mission Statement and other Company policies and procedures by supporting our commitment to total customer satisfaction, quality products and services, lean processes, continuous improvement, on-time delivery, safety, teaming, individual accountability and respect for people.

Pay Range - $24 - $27 per hour DOE

$1.00 Shift Differential

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• This position performs functions of fabrication processes including turret punching, forming, bending, drilling, deburr, and line up.
• Use gauges, scale, calipers, and other measuring equipment to check part integrity.
• The Lead position acts as an interface with Work Center/Production personnel, Customer Service and other departments and work groups as necessary.
• Assured work activities are in accordance with all applicable procedures, work instructions, and customer specifications.
• Assign work to work center team members and ensures workflow is productive. Enforces behavioral based safety policies to secure a safe work environment.
• On-the-Job Training (OJT): Using the day-to-day requirements within the work center, works with employees to teach and reinforce work center processes. Completes all required training and certifications and follows specific training guides, manuals, and checklists when available.
• Adjusts teaching style and method to fit individual employee learning style, skill level, and pace of learning.
• Works with supervisor and work team to assign appropriate work to employees to enhance skill development or introduce new skills.
• Help supervisor to assess skill level, productivity, and overall work performance of individual employees.
• Monitor production performance, identify areas of improvement, and take corrective action as needed.
• Ensure that production processes are carried out in accordance with established safety and quality standards.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
• Develop and implement production schedules and workflows.
• Enforce company policies and procedures in a consistent and fair manner.
• Troubleshoot production issues and resolve them in a timely manner.
• Promote a positive, respectful, and accountable work environment.
• Other duties assigned by management

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCES

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• 1+ years of leadership experience
• 2+ years of experience in a production or manufacturing environment
• Knowledge of production processes and equipment
• Must be able to learn and understand equipment, as well as setup and run the equipment.
• Must be able to read basic blue prints and understand specifications that parts are made to, and identify imperfections in parts.
• Must be able to read and understand work orders, follow written and verbal instructions and procedures, and to use tools and methods to ensure quality.
• Able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
• Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other related software

Physical Requirements

• Ability to bend, twist and stretch arms above head and walk or stand for long periods of time.
• Must be able to push and pull heavy racks.
• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
• Noise levels ranging from quiet to extremely loud
• Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when working on the manufacturing floor including, but not limited to, eye, ear, and foot protection
• May occasionally lift and /or move up to 10-50 pounds
