Job Description
Join Our Dynamic Med Tele/Ortho Nursing Team!

Job Description:
- Shift: 12 Hour Nights
- Unit: Med Tele / Ortho RN - 4th Floor North & South
- Certifications Required:
- BLS (AHA)
- ACLS preferred
- Distance Requirement:
- 50 miles radius;
- Must not be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any associated facility.
- Important Policies:
- Fingernail Policy: Artificial nails prohibited; refusal to remove results in termination.
- RN Exam: Pass/Fail exam during orientation; requires a 90% to pass.
- Unit Capacity:
- Beds: 55
- Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:5-6
- Patient Demographics:
- MedSurg/Tele
- Common diagnoses: Joint replacements, fractures, COPD exacerbation, sepsis, and more.
- RN Responsibilities:
- Titrate drips: Heparin, lidocaine, ketamine, PCA pumps.
- Charge Nurse present on each shift with assigned patients.
- Support Staff:
- Nurse Aids/Patient Care Techs: 1:10-20 ratio.
- Tele/Monitor Techs available; RNs should have basic telemetry awareness.
- Shifts & Scheduling:
- Hours: 0630-1900, 1830-0700.
- Limited block scheduling approved; weekend requirement typically every other weekend.
- Schedules posted 6 weeks in advance.
- Holiday Coverage:
- 2-3 holidays from Thanksgiving to New Years.
- Floating Policy:
- Yes, to other MedSurg areas or units with MedSurg patients.
- Dress Code:
- Scrubs: Navy Blue
- Orientation:
- Unit-specific orientation: 2 days.
- Additional Notes:
- Focus on hourly rounding and responsiveness.
- Multiple admissions and discharges in a day; adaptability and teamwork are key.
- Serve diverse patient cultures including Spanish, Karen, and Burmese.
