Job Description Summary Responsible for the efficient and effective collection of plasma from donors by performing venipuncture, monitoring thepheresis process and following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Job Responsibilities Perform all aspects of thepheresis procedure and plasma collection in compliance with SOPs, including donor set‑up, monitoring and disconnect. Perform venipuncture on donors to beginpheresis, in line with FDA guidelines. Evaluate vein performance, troubleshoot donor issues, and ensure a positive donation experience. Educate new donors on therapeutic products, screening process, appointment system, donation fees, center policies, proper nutrition, and other pertinent information; answer questions accurately and professionally. Respond to donor reactions and notify appropriate staff. Record incidents during thepheresis process using a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA). Perform calibrations, verify maintenance, and resolve complex equipment alarms or donor issues. Troubleshoot equipment failures, create incident documentation, and remove or replace equipment from service. Monitor donor flow on the donor floor and alert the Group Leader or Supervisor of flow issues. Collect arm or whole blood samples from donors for testing. Accurately record donor data in the electronic donor information management system as outlined in SOPs. Understand policies and procedures for hyperimmune programs, if applicable. Maintain a clean, efficient work environment and ensure sufficient operating supplies and forms are available; follow HSE and OSHA policies and promote safety in all actions. Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information. Cross‑train in other areas as needed to meet business requirements. Use bilingual skills if required by the organization. Perform other job‑related duties as assigned. Education High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience Internal CSL employees: completed CSL Plasma DST training. External candidates: minimum 6 months experience as a phlebotomist; one year preferred. Minimum 12 months experience in a medical or health‑care environment. Preferred Qualifications Must meet or combine mandatory education and experience requirements. Working Conditions Complete routine forms or conduct routine oral communications. Understand, remember, and apply oral and/or written instructions. See and speak with customers; observe equipment operation. Occasionally perform tasks while standing and walking up to 100% of the time. Reach, bend, kneel, and have high manual dexterity. Occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds. Fast‑paced environment with frequent interruptions. Frequently exposed to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures, and blood‑borne pathogens. Wear personal protective equipment while performing specific tasks or in certain areas. Work overtime and extended hours to support center operational needs. Salary The expected base pay for this position at hiring is $21.34 to $23.30 per hour, determined by qualifications, skill level, experience, competencies, and other relevant factors.
