Job Description: We are looking for an outstanding Orchestration Engineer with a focus on Software Defined Networking (SDN) to help advance our automation transformation within the ET Engineering Core. You will play a key role in identifying areas of improvement in Engineering processes and tools, collaborating with other Orchestration Engineering team members, building automation solutions, and investigating cutting edge technologies that will help bring value. You will imbue agile thinking and DevOps techniques into the Engineering automation development process. Key work responsibilities include: Working as part of DevOps teams on orchestration initiatives Developing network automation using Python and Ansible for CI/CD Participating in design and architecture sessions Supporting engineers in their day to day operations Participating in and building a network automation community of practice An Orchestration Engineer within ET will design, build, and maintain solutions for orchestration and automation with an internal open source, automation-first approach. They will support other Engineers in their mission to deliver highly available and reliable services to the University. Position Salary Range: $94,300 – $114,177; DOE Essential Duties: Leverage AI in routine tasks and contribute ideas for using AI to improve the unit’s efficiency and overall performance. One or more years of development experience using Python Experience with design, engineering, and support of Enterprise systems Experience with automating and managing system and software deployments Experience with automation using open tools like Ansible Experience with IT practices such as: Agile, ITIL, DevOps Experience with DevOps tools such as Jira/Confluence, Jenkins, Ansible, and Git/GitHub Desired Qualifications: Demonstrated ability to model empathy, compassion, and emotional intelligence. Experience/certifications for public cloud (primarily AWS but also Azure and Google Cloud) Experience with Linux and/or Windows OS, including patch management and system maintenance Demonstrable scripting skills (i.e., Bash/Ksh, Powershell, Perl, Python, Ruby) Familiarity with automation and configuration management tools (i.e., Ansible, SCCM, DSC, Terraform, Jenkins Working Environment: Activities primarily take place in a standard, climate-controlled office environment and may involve extended periods of sitting, standing, or moving between office spaces. This role involves regular use of a computer (desktop and/or laptop), including a keyboard and mouse. Effective communication and proficiency with a variety of technologies are essential for collaboration with the broader team. Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work. Regular responsibilities may require the ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
