Job Description:\n\n \n\nJob Summary\n\nThe Project Manager I is responsible for independently managing small to mid-sized electrical construction projects or defined scopes within larger projects, ensuring delivery aligns with contract requirements, schedule commitments, and financial objectives. This role represents the first level of full project ownership, with accountability for project execution, cost tracking, and coordination across field and office teams.\n\n \n\nOperating within the Project Team under the Operations function, the Project Manager I manages day-to-day project activities including subcontractor coordination, procurement, scheduling alignment, and billing processes. The role serves as a key point of contact for internal stakeholders and supports client interactions while developing deeper capabilities in financial management, contract administration, and project leadership.\n\n \n\nThe ideal candidate is technically grounded, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities, with demonstrated ability to deliver project scopes while continuing to build independent decision-making and client management skills within electrical construction and mission critical environments.\n\n \n\nEssential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities\n\nTasks may include, but are not limited to the following:\n\n· Independently manage assigned projects or defined scopes from kickoff through closeout, ensuring alignment with contract, schedule, and budget requirements\n\n· Develop and maintain project schedules, short-term lookaheads, and coordination plans with field leadership\n\n· Manage project costs including tracking budgets, commitments, labor productivity, and forecasting financial performance\n\n· Prepare, submit, and track change orders; support negotiation within defined authority levels\n\n· Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to ensure timely and compliant execution of work\n\n· Manage procurement activities including material buyouts, purchase orders, and long-lead item tracking\n\n· Oversee project documentation including RFIs, submittals, logs, and correspondence to ensure accuracy and timely processing\n\n· Manage owner billing processes including AIA pay applications, lien waivers, and collections follow-up\n\n· Participate in client and contractor meetings; communicate project status, risks, and updates\n\n· Identify project risks and issues; implement solutions within scope and escalate as needed\n\n· Ensure compliance with safety standards, quality requirements, and company policies across project activities\n\n· Support project closeout including punch list completion, commissioning coordination, and final documentation turnover\n\n \n \n \n \n \n\nKnowledge, Skills and Abilities \n\nRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:\n\n· Working knowledge of electrical construction systems, installation methods, and project sequencing\n\n· Ability to independently interpret drawings, specifications, and contract documents\n\n· Strong understanding of project cost components including labor, materials, and subcontractor costs\n\n· Ability to manage budgets, track costs, and support basic financial forecasting\n\n· Effective communication skills with ability to interact with field teams, subcontractors, and clients\n\n· Organizational and time management skills with ability to manage multiple projects or scopes simultaneously\n\n· Problem-solving skills with ability to make sound decisions within defined authority\n\n· Proficiency in project management software (Procore, Autodesk, etc.), Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite\n\n· Basic understanding of scheduling tools and coordination across trades\n\n· Knowledge of construction safety standards (OSHA) and compliance expectations\n\nSupervisory Responsibilities\n\n· Does not have direct supervisory responsibility over employees\n\n· Provides day-to-day coordination and task-level guidance to project stakeholders including subcontractors, vendors, and project support personnel to ensure alignment with project requirements\n\n· Supports field leadership (Superintendents and Foremen) by facilitating communication, documentation flow, and issue tracking to maintain project progress\n\n· Assists in onboarding and coordination of subcontractors by ensuring required documentation, compliance items, and project expectations are communicated and tracked\n\n· May support training and guidance of new or junior project support staff on project processes, systems, and documentation standards\n\n· Reinforces company standards related to safety, documentation, and project controls through consistent communication and follow-up\n\nWork Environment/Physical Demands/Position Type and Expected Work Time\n\nWork Environment:\n\n· Work is performed in a combination of office settings and active construction job sites, including commercial, industrial, and mission critical/data center environments\n\n· Regular interaction with field operations, requiring routine site visits to support coordination, documentation, and project progress tracking\n\n· Exposure to typical construction conditions including noise, dust, confined spaces, heights, and varying weather conditions when on-site\n\n· Must comply with all company and site-specific safety requirements, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hat, safety glasses, high-visibility vest, gloves, and appropriate footwear\n\n· May require occasional travel to local or regional project sites based on project needs\n\n· Work is fast-paced and deadline-driven, requiring the ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing project demands\n\nPhysical Requirements:\n\nThis role requires the physical and environmental demands outlined below, with or without reasonable accommodation. additional hours may be required based on project demands\n\n· Schedule is driven by project needs and may require early start times to align with field operations or jobsite activities\n\n· Regular coordination with field teams may require presence on-site during active construction hours, including early mornings or extended days\n\n· Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to support critical project milestones, shutdowns, or schedule-sensitive activities\n\n· Availability to respond to project-related issues outside of standard hours as needed to support project continuity\n\n· Travel to job sites may be required on a regular basis depending on project location and assignment\n\nOvertime Expectations:\n\n· This position is classified as exempt and is not eligible for overtime pay in accordance with applicable federal and state laws\n\n· The role is expected to fulfill the responsibilities of the position regardless of hours required, with workload driven by project demands, schedules, and client requirements\n\n· Additional hours, including early mornings, extended workdays, evenings, or weekends, may be necessary to support project milestones, field operations, and schedule-critical activities\n\n· Availability outside of standard business hours may be required to address project needs, coordination issues, or time-sensitive deliverables\n\n· Work schedules should be managed in coordination with project leadership to ensure project objectives are met while maintaining effective workload planning\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\nRequired Education and Experience\n\nEducation:\n\n· Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred\n\n· Equivalent combination of education and relevant electrical construction experience may be considered in lieu of a degree\n\n· Formal training or coursework related to project management, construction processes, or technical disciplines is a plus\n\n \n\nCertifications/Licenses:\n\n· OSHA 10 Certification required or ability to obtain within a defined timeframe (e.g., 90 days of hire)\n\n· Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record required for travel to job sites\n\n· CPR/First Aid certification preferred or ability to obtain\n\n· Fundamental knowledge or exposure to electrical safety standards (e.g., NFPA 70E) preferred\n\n· Entry-level project management training or coursework (e.g., CAPM or equivalent) preferred but not required\n\nExperience Requirements:\n\n· 1–3 years of experience in construction, project coordination, or a related role;
