Staff Services Management Auditor

Job Description and Duties

Under the close supervision of the Senior Management Auditor, the Staff Management Auditor is responsible for conducting and/or assiting with the compliance audits and performance reviews, but may also conduct or assist with internal control risk assessments, and the related internal accounting, administratiuve, information technology, and automated systems control audits. The Staff Services Management Auditor will conduct and/or assist in financial aduits and operations reviews of departmental offices and programs, and may be requested to assist in investigations of individuals or entities where fraud or abuse is suspected for the Audits and Inspection Section.

Working Conditions

This position requires extensive fieldwork with overnight travel of up to 25 percent throughout the State of California and may include working long and irregular hours.

• Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to appointment. Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

• Working knowledge and familiarity with internal auditing standards, Government Auditing Standard, and other appropriate standards used in performing financial and performance reviews of government programs.
• Knowledge of contracting laws, regulations, and practices.

• Knowledge of invoicing and billing systems and practices.

• Ability to be tactful and maintain a good rapport with employees, peers, and managers.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Sufficient knowledge in the use of Microsoft Excel, Visio, and Word.

• Familiarity with project management methodologies.

• Strong organizational and analytical skills.

• Team-oriented work ethic.
