Overview UnityPoint Health is a physician‑led nonprofit organization serving communities across the Midwest. We employ over 1200 physicians and advanced practice providers across primary and specialty care. Our John Stoddard Cancer Center in Des Moines is a comprehensive community cancer program with a Breast Cancer Center and Clinical Radiopharmaceutical Therapy Center of Excellence. Responsibilities Establish strong working relationships with service line physicians and other providers. Lead physicians in identifying unnecessary clinical and operational variation and developing high‑reliability care standards. Champion adoption of high‑reliability care standards with regional and subspecialty leadership. Develop and review performance dashboards, monitor outcomes, and implement action plans to optimize results. Manage performance of physicians and advanced practitioners, building culture and addressing concerns. Serve as the primary representative for Medical Oncology within the system and with independent partners. Build clinical, fellowship, and research programs. Lead and participate in developing standardized clinical protocols, system policies, and procedures. Ensure adherence to established protocols and policies. Disseminate information to providers, conduct scheduled meetings, and plan future activities. Attend seminars and conferences to stay current on national developments. Align service line physicians with strategic priorities and goals. Partner with oncology directors to develop short‑term and long‑term strategic plans aligned with the UPH strategic plan. Provide internal consulting for new programs, initiatives, and technology investments. Collaborate with oncology directors to achieve key performance metrics, goals, and objectives. Participate in workforce planning discussions for physicians and other providers. Lead the development of recruitment strategies and participate in the recruitment process. Manage the profit and loss of the assigned division in partnership with oncology operations leaders. Participate in strategic, operational, and capital discussions concerning division activities. Implement tactics with oncology directors to enhance profitability. Qualifications Board Certified or Board Eligible in Surgical Oncology. Advanced degree in healthcare management (MBA, MHA) preferred. Ability to obtain and hold an unrestricted medical license in Iowa.
