Product Certification Manager

How you will make an Impact (Job Summary) SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As a Certification Coordinator you will be responsible for coordinating and maintaining product certifications required to support the SPX Cooling Tech business and its customers. Working within the Technical Service team, this role serves as a central point of coordination for certification activities involving organizations and standards such as CTI, Eurovent, ASHRAE, GB, ASME, and other applicable industry or customer requirements. The position partners with R&D, Engineering, Product Management, Sales, Operations, and other cross-functional teams to identify certification needs, coordinate testing and documentation, maintain current certifications, and provide accurate certification information to customers. This role also supports certification planning and budgeting while developing processes and tools to improve the efficiency, visibility, and management of certification activities. This role encourages innovation and continuously improves efficiency of technical support, monitors advances of technology and competition, and supports global and acquisition-related technical issues in areas of expertise. What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities) While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be: Develop and maintain a multi-year certification roadmap aligned with product strategies, market expansion goals, and customer requirements. Evaluate certification requirements for new product development projects and emerging markets. Provide certification impact assessments for design changes and new technologies. Coordinate product certification activities to support SPX Cooling Tech products and customer requirements. Maintain applicable certifications and ensure renewals, testing, documentation, and other requirements are completed on schedule. Build and maintain strategic relationships with certification organizations, testing agencies and laboratories, and industry organizations. Coordinate data submittal and testing activities associated with CTI, Eurovent, ASHRAE, GB, ASME, and other applicable certification or industry requirements. Represent SPX Cooling in certification committees, working groups, and industry technical forums as required. Maintain accurate certification records and provide current documentation and information to internal teams and customers. Technical & Customer Support Partner with engineering teams to understand certification requirements and coordinate technical information, testing, and documentation needed for certification. Support customer inquiries and requests for product certification, compliance, and supporting technical documentation. Work cross-functionally with R&D, Engineering, Sales, Product Management, and other functions to ensure certification requirements are understood and addressed. Communicate certification status, requirements, risks, and timing to appropriate stakeholders. Certification Planning & Coordination Develop and maintain certification schedules, priorities, and tracking tools across applicable product lines. Coordinate certification activities with external agencies, testing organizations, and other third-party resources as required. Support development and management of certification budgets, including anticipated testing, renewal, and external resource costs. Identify upcoming certification needs associated with new products, product changes, customer requirements, or market expansion. Report and lead internal reviews of certification compliance status. Process Improvement & Reporting Develop standardized processes and tools for managing certification activities, documentation, renewals, and reporting. Establish metrics and reporting methods to provide visibility into certification status, upcoming requirements, costs, and potential risks. Identify opportunities to streamline certification processes and improve coordination between Engineering and other stakeholders. Support broader Product and Process Improvement initiatives within the Engineering organization including identification of potential product improvements. What we are looking for (Required/Ideal Experience, Skills, Education) We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has: Required Experience & Skills 5+ years of experience in engineering, product management, testing, compliance, certification, or technical experience. Strong technical aptitude with the ability to understand engineering standards, product requirements, and certification documentation. Strong organizational and project management and coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple certifications, deadlines, and priorities. Budget management Cross-functional leadership Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical information to customers and non-technical stakeholders. Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate documentation and records. Ability to develop effective working relationships with engineers, customers, certification agencies, and cross-functional teams. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to develop and maintain tracking, reporting, and planning tools. Demonstrated initiative and ability to identify and implement process improvements. Ideal Experience & Skills Experience working in engineering, product certification, product compliance, testing, or related technical environment preferred. Familiarity with industry standards, certification processes, and technical documentation preferred. Experience coordinating projects or activities across multiple internal and external stakeholders is beneficial. Education & Certifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline. Onsite office environment, Monday – Friday; Hybrid work schedule available after satisfactory completion of probationary period. The position may require working occasionally outside normal work hours. Lifting up to 20 pounds. Bending and stooping. Ability to communicate effectively verbally.
