Summary:
The Registered Nurse I is a Registered Nurse who is a beginning professional caregiver, entering into practice and establishing a professional identity. The incumbent is responsible for the practice of nursing according to the Rules and Regulations defined in the State of Maine Nurse Practice Act, Northern Light Health Standards of Care/Practice, policies and procedures. The Registered Nurse I is responsible for the delivery of patient care to assigned patients, and for the supervision of other qualified staff to whom the Registered Nurse I has delegated patient care in the exercise of his/her independent judgment. The nurse plans and evaluates the nursing care for patients and families and exercises independent judgment in implementing care or assigning the care to other qualified staff. The nurse addresses physical, spiritual, emotional and educational needs of the patient, and coordinates the plan of care with other healthcare professionals. The incumbent performs duties and tasks in accordance with performance standards established for the job.
Responsibilities:
• Provides safe and effective patient care by using best practices during hand off communication and when reporting patient care information and appropriately asks for assistance from other staff. Alternate shift schedules (day, evening, nights, weekends).
Tier 1 – Medical Surgical/Telemetry patients
Pay: $2.50 per hour float pay +$1.50 per hour for a total of $4.00 per hour
Specific Competencies: Competencies required to care for a general med/surg and telemetry patient, current BLS certification, and ACLS certification within six months of hire.
Tier 2 - Medical Surgical/Telemetry, plus one of the following areas: Critical Care, ED/Women and Children's Services, or procedural areas
Pay: $2.50 per hour float pay +$2.50 per hour for a total of $5.00 per hour
Specific Competencies: minimum of 12 months experience, demonstrated competencies as a critical care nurse along with the demonstrated competencies in Tier 1, current BLS certification, and ACLS certification within 6 months of hire.
Tier 3 - Medical Surgical/Telemetry, plus two of the following areas: Critical Care, ED/Women and Children's Services, or procedural areas
Pay: $2.50 per hour float pay +$3.50 per hour for a total of $6.00 per hour
Specific Competencies: must meet the minimum requirement in tier 1 and 2 plus demonstrated competencies in at least one other specialty area, e.g., Perioperative, Obstetrics and Labor & Delivery, Neonatal Care, and/or Pediatrics, also appropriate certifications in the specialty areas deemed competent and NRP certification within six months of hire.
