Location: Sarasota, FL 34240 Bonus: 20–25% Discretionary Bonus Opportunity Schedule: 100% Onsite Relocation Package Available Position Overview Bell & Associates is conducting a confidential search for a Senior Vice President of Finance to join an established, privately held construction and real estate organization in Sarasota, FL. This is a highly visible, hands‑on executive leadership opportunity for a finance professional who can operate at both the strategic and transactional levels. The ideal candidate will bring strong financial leadership, extensive construction job cost accounting experience, and the ability to navigate complex multi‑entity structures. This position offers a planned executive succession opportunity, with the incoming leader working alongside the current CFO for several months to gain a thorough understanding of the business before assuming full responsibility. We are seeking someone who goes beyond producing financial statements. The right candidate will understand the transactions behind the numbers, identify opportunities for improvement, and translate complex financial information into meaningful business insights. Qualifications Active CPA license required. No exceptions. Accounting degree is not required. 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience. Strong construction job cost accounting experience required. Construction industry experience strongly preferred. Sage Intacct experience preferred. Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, cash management, budgeting, and forecasting. Experience managing complex multi‑entity accounting and ownership structures. Knowledge of investor reporting, capital calls, distributions, and partnership accounting. Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage, mentor, and develop accounting teams. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable recommendations. Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and able to operate with a strong sense of urgency. Proactive, engaged, and comfortable asking questions, challenging processes, and contributing ideas. Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain financial results to non‑financial business partners. Key Responsibilities Oversee financial operations, accounting, and reporting across multiple construction and real estate entities. Lead cash management, cash flow forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning. Manage construction job cost accounting , including project cost analysis, allocations, approvals, and reporting. Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and GAAP compliance. Analyze financial performance, identify trends and risks, and communicate findings to ownership and business partners. Manage complex ownership structures, partnership accounting, and intercompany transactions. Oversee investor reporting, capital calls, distributions, and related financial activities. Review contracts, leases, partnership agreements, financing documents, and transactions to determine appropriate accounting treatment. Oversee banking relationships, loan requirements, wire approvals, and cash transactions. Administer and optimize Sage Intacct and related accounting processes. Coordinate tax matters and review returns with external tax professionals. Oversee general ledger activity, payroll allocations, and investment interest allocations. Review construction and real estate closing statements, financial commitments, and project‑related transactions. Lead and develop the accounting team, evaluating processes, performance, and opportunities for improvement. Support financial modeling, pricing analysis, ownership transitions, and strategic business initiatives. Serve as a trusted financial partner to ownership, providing insight into financial results, risks, and business decisions. Base Salary: $190,000–$250,000, depending on experience. Bonus: Discretionary bonus opportunity of approximately 20–25%. PTO: Approximately four weeks, negotiable.
