SUMMARY
The Program Therapist is responsible for direct therapeutic services to children and their parents/caregivers. Counseling sessions may be held at the client's school, home, or at the office, according to the client's and parent/guardian's preference. Collaborates with attending psychiatrist who provides client's medication management. Collaborates with the United Women of East Africa Support Team to ensure effective service delivery, community engagement, and alignment with organizational objectives. Collaborates with the schools via IEP's and monthly contacts with teachers, counselors and other school support team members. Fosters ongoing working relationships with school and community members. Collaborates with community resources to support clients and provide referrals for services outside our program's scope. May receive training in Parent Child Interactive Therapy (PCIT), an evidence-based model for treating 27-year-olds. Attends staff meetings weekly and participates in professional supervision in line with BBS standards. Meets all clinical documentation standards of the program, agency, and clinical field. Adheres to all agency policies, including productivity targets and documentation requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work collaboratively with the United Women of East Africa Support Team to ensure effective service delivery, community engagement, and alignment with organizational objectives.
- Is familiar with the principles of System of Care, and the Wraparound Philosophy. This is exemplified by interventions that are based on the strengths and needs of the child, youth, and family. Treatment will be individualized, culturally appropriate to the family system, and inclusive of all important individuals to the child/family that represent natural or indigenous supports from the home, school, and/or community. Client and family input is regularly solicited and integrated into services, regarding the quality & outcome of services, development of treatment goals, and overall service delivery.
- Is familiar with the vision and mission of SDCC-ECOP.
- Seeks and utilizes outcome measures, in addition to client/family/Tx team feedback, as a means of measuring treatment progress and success. Regardless of a therapist's theoretical orientation, there is accountability to service results as evidenced by the realistic goals of behavioral change on the part of the child, youth, and/or significant adults in the life of the child or youth.
- Responsible for comprehensive, clinically sound, efficient, and timely documentation and billing. Participates in ongoing training and Quality Assurance chart reviews to ensure the soundness of all client health records.
- Actively works toward providing timely services to clients and to meeting monthly and annual productivity targets.
- Incorporation of the program into family context through regular parent and staff communication. Promote positive program identity within SDCC-ECOP and the San Diego community at large.
- Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team at the outpatient clinic. Collaborates with school personnel in order to foster a collaborative working relationship and ensure quality service for clients. Efforts may include participation in IEPs and/or other school meetings, communication regarding referral status, and assistance needed to provide comprehensive quality care to client/family. Attendance at community events and/or collaborative meetings, as needed. Collaboration and case management with external treatment providers (i.e. TBS, wraparound, health services, substance use, recreational facilities, etc.).
- Participates in SDCC committee representation as assigned, on a rotating basis.
- Sets annual SMART goals and participates in regular performance reviews.
- Maintains a positive attitude and collaborative teamwork approach. Demonstrates respect for coworkers, clients, and office workspace/materials.
- Participates in training made available at SDCC-ECOP and in the community, as agreed upon with the Program Manager. Provides in-service training at SDCC-ECOP as agreed upon with Program Manager and/or Clinical Supervisor.
- Fulfills contract expectations of a 40-hour work week, or part-time hours per employee contract. Is available for sessions until 6pm 2-3 days a week. Is available to provide school and home based services, as well as attend meetings in the schools/community. Fulfills all paperwork requirements, including completing a weekly schedule and monthly statistics promptly.
- Participates in SDCC committee representation as assigned, on a rotating basis.
- Utilization of electronic records (Smart Care) established by The County of San Diego and continuously adheres to training requirements.
- Completion of a 10-hour online Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT) training. Completion of all required trainings by our county contract.
- Communicates directly to the Manager/Supervisor if any concerns or training needs are required in order to fulfill job expectations.
- Other duties as assigned by Program Manager and/or Clinical Supervisor.
PERFORMANCE TARGETS:
- Meets minimum monthly productivity target of 60 hours based on a standard 40-hour workweek. Productivity expectations will be adjusted proportionate to hours worked.
- Productivity expectation allows for 6 weeks/year of time off per FTE for holiday, sick, vacation, trainings, etc.
- Will demonstrate a 90% customer satisfaction rating on customer satisfaction surveys.
- Will maintain an average of less than two chart errors per chart on internal audits. For purposes of this goal, an error shall be defined as an omission that would trigger a clear disallowance.
- Identifies an area of interest, and takes at least one training per year in this area, and presents new learning to the team.
