Journeyman Pipefitter

GMS is seeking an experienced Project Pipe Fitter to support active mechanical projects across Maryland, Washington DC, and Northern Virginia. This role supports installation, modification, and repair work on commercial and government facilities. The position requires strong technical ability, strict adherence to safety standards, and the discipline to meet project schedules and quality expectations. Where: DC Corridor/ DMV Pay: $55/hr – affiliated with the Local 602 Responsibilities Installing, assembling, and maintaining piping systems for HVAC and mechanical applications. Welding and racking. Work includes screw pipe, copper, welded piping, and specialty mechanical systems found in commercial buildings, federal environments, data centers, laboratories, military bases, and industrial facilities. Solid understanding of system layout, blueprint reading, and field coordination with project managers, foremen, and other trades. Required Skills Read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and specifications. Understanding HVAC systems such as chilled water, heating water, steam, condenser water, refrigerant piping, and gas piping. Familiarity with installation requirements for valves, pumps, strainers, hangers, supports, vibration isolation components, and other related equipment. Knowledge of pressure testing, flushing, and system commissioning support. Licensing and Certification CFC Universal OSHA‑10 or OSHA‑30 Safety training Qualifications Clean personal record.
