Lead Business Analyst (Agile) [Remote]

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Lead Business Analyst (Agile) based in United States.

This senior role leads business analysis across multiple Agile teams supporting the modernization of a mission-critical federal case management platform.
You will guide Business Analysts, shape enterprise-level product backlogs, and ensure requirements remain aligned with customer objectives and delivery commitments.
The position combines strategic leadership with hands-on work in requirements engineering, process analysis, journey mapping, and business process re-engineering.
You will collaborate closely with Product Owners, architects, testers, developers, stakeholders, and customer representatives.
The role offers the opportunity to influence modernization initiatives spanning complex legacy systems and new cloud-based solutions.
Success requires strong analytical thinking, stakeholder management, communication, and the ability to bring structure to complex business and technical requirements.
This is a fully remote position within a collaborative Agile environment, with a strong focus on continuous improvement and customer outcomes.

Accountabilities

• Lead and provide guidance to Business Analysts across multiple Scrum teams, ensuring consistent approaches to requirements, backlog management, and delivery.

• Own the backlog decomposition strategy and maintain a healthy, prioritized product backlog with sufficient work prepared for upcoming sprints.

• Partner with Product Owners and customer stakeholders to clarify requirements, manage scope, define objectives, and maintain alignment with product vision and roadmap.

• Establish and enforce clear Definitions of Ready and Done across development teams, supporting consistent quality and delivery standards.

• Provide transparency into backlog health and decomposition through metrics, dashboards, and regular reporting.

• Take a leadership role in Program Increment planning, coordinating dependencies, milestones, deliverables, sequencing, and timelines.

• Identify, communicate, and mitigate risks, impediments, and delivery issues, following through until resolution.

• Collaborate with architects, testers, Product Owners, developers, and stakeholders to ensure end-to-end alignment across technical and business deliverables.

• Lead retrospectives and Communities of Practice for Business Analysts, gathering feedback, encouraging knowledge sharing, and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.

• Develop and maintain business requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, technical documentation, process maps, narratives, and related delivery artifacts.

• Facilitate stakeholder interviews, customer journey mapping, process-mapping sessions, and business analysis workshops with project teams and court personnel.

• Analyze business processes to identify opportunities for standardization while documenting necessary variations, local rules, and differences across business environments.

• Develop detailed process maps and supporting narratives using Microsoft Visio, maintaining documentation in an accessible and hierarchical structure.

• Support gap analyses, workflow analysis, alternative solution assessments, business process modeling, wireframes, and storyboards as required.

• Generate contractual deliverables and ensure they are completed within agreed scope, quality, and timelines.

• Provide business analysis and technical support during Agile ceremonies and contribute journey-mapping, process-analysis, and customer-interview outputs to regular reporting.

• Promote continuous improvement across the end-to-end analysis and delivery process, with a strong focus on product quality, requirements alignment, and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience supporting Product Owners and Agile teams, eliciting business needs, managing backlogs, developing requirements, and maintaining technical documentation.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required; a master’s degree is also acceptable.

• Proven experience leading or providing guidance to multiple Business Analysts and Agile teams while maintaining alignment with overall program objectives.

• Strong experience gathering and translating stakeholder, customer, Product Owner, and end-user needs into detailed requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.

• Experience with Agile methodologies, progressive elaboration of complex technical epics and stories, backlog management, and sprint readiness.

• Demonstrated expertise in business process analysis, workflow analysis, process modeling, and business process re-engineering.

• Experience supporting modernization initiatives, including legacy IT environments, integrations, new development, and deployment alongside existing systems.

• Experience performing gap analyses, workflow assessments, Analysis of Alternatives, business process modeling, wireframes, and storyboards.

• Strong technical background and ability to collaborate effectively with Solutions Architects, developers, testers, and senior technical stakeholders.

• Experience supporting testing through acceptance criteria development and validation of test-case results.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities, with the capacity to formulate and communicate practical recommendations.

• Excellent verbal, written, presentation, facilitation, and stakeholder-management skills.

• Consultant mindset with the ability to build trusted relationships with senior customer stakeholders and diverse audiences.

• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

• Demonstrated ability to identify and apply relevant industry tools, best practices, methods, solutions, and emerging technologies.

• Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a complex Agile delivery environment.

• Salary: Likely base salary range of $128,039–$173,229 per year , depending on experience, location, and applicable contractual requirements.
