This is a 13-week contract position.

Shift: Night, 3x12.0 (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care by administering intensive respiratory care and facilitating patient transport into and out of the facility as prescribed. Operating under minimal supervision, the therapist evaluates patients and recommends appropriate treatment plans while explaining procedures, tests, and equipment usage to patients. The therapist conducts physician-prescribed treatments using various ventilatory equipment, both invasive and non-invasive, as well as administering oxygen and aerosol therapies.

• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning by various methods (oropharyngeal, nasal, tracheal).
• Monitor oximetry and capnography in accordance with policy.
• Review and interpret chest x-rays for further evaluation needs.
• Conduct 12-lead EKGs and basic arrhythmia recognition.
• Assist with respiratory-related procedures such as Bronchoscopy and chest tube placement.
• Provide tracheostomy care and facilitate insertions/removals of tubes.
• Perform arterial punctures and assess ventilation efficiency.
• Execute preventative maintenance and repair of respiratory equipment.
• Document all treatments and patient responses accurately in respiratory care records.
• Communicate effectively with the medical team and report critical information during shift changes.

Current Virginia state license is required for this role.
