Position Details Position Title: Assistant Professor College/Division: Arts and Sciences College Department: 331250-MATHEMATICAL SCIENCES Location: Las Cruces Appointment Full-time Equivalency: 1.0 FLSA Status: Exempt Job Duties and Responsibilities Duties include teaching and coordinating undergraduate and graduate classes, as well as advising students in both undergraduate and graduate studies. Conducting scholarly research. Service to the Department of Mathematical Sciences and NMSU. Required Education and Experience Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related area prior to August 2027. Preferred Qualifications Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related area prior to August 2027 and are expected to demonstrate outstanding research potential, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to excellence in teaching at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. Ability to collaborate with existing faculty in the department is an asset. Expected duties include graduate and undergraduate teaching, sustained research, including supervision of graduate students and submission of competitive external funding proposals, and some university service.
