Ensure patients and their caregivers understand their current therapy, including medication purpose, dosing, and administration, to promote safe and effective treatment.
Support medication adherence by reinforcing treatment plans, addressing barriers to adherence, and providing ongoing motivational and educational support.
Schedule medication refill deliveries and collect copays, when applicable, to help maintain uninterrupted therapy.
Adhere to contracted and accrediting regulations as indicated by drug specifications, ensuring full compliance with REMS and other regulatory requirements.
Complete thorough, accurate, and timely documentation using good documentation practices in accordance with industry standards and regulations.
Discuss potential and current side effects with patients, educate them about treatment alternatives where appropriate, and facilitate ongoing therapy adherence.
Identify and report adverse events (AEs) and product complaints (PCs) to the manufacturer, FDA, and other governing authorities as required.
Verify specialty drugs and provide patient education related to their use, acting as a conduit between providers and patients to support long-term therapeutic success.
Maintain accurate patient demographic information, medical history, and records in compliance with federal HIPAA standards.
Collaborate closely with Pharmacy Support teams to ensure timely and accurate delivery of specialty medications.
Use professional phone etiquette and strong communication skills to interact with patients, caregivers, providers, and internal teams.
