Job Summary

The Student Assistant will support the Academic Success Center as a Peer Tutor on the Savannah Campus beginning Fall 2026.


Student employees cannot work more than 1300 hours in a 12-consecutive month period.

Responsibilities

• Assists students by answering subject-specific questions
• Assists students in identifying and overcoming mechanical problems
• Works with students to improve problem-solving skills
• Assists students with a variety of class assignments including essays if applicable
• Works within the Academic Success Center on the Armstrong campus and virtually as assigned.
• Attends mandatory staff orientation meeting and subsequent training sessions
• Assists with the following subjects: MATH, BIOL, CHEM, BCHM, PHYS, ISBA, ECON, ENGR

Shift Specifics

• Up to 20 hours per week
• Flexible with schedule of availability
• Shifts will be located in the Academic Success Center
• Shifts available Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 7:30 PM

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

• Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours or three or more graduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Education

• Possess and maintain a semesterly GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Successful completion of intended tutoring courses with a grade of "B" or better

Proposed Salary

$12.50 per hour

This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.
