IT Project Manager III

Job Summary
Our client, a leading energy and utilities organization, is seeking an experienced IT Project Manager III to lead complex, multi-year IT initiatives. This role is responsible for managing project scope, schedules, budgets, risks, and stakeholder engagement, with a focus on delivering high-impact Meter-to-Cash technology projects. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, PMP certification, and a proven ability to drive cross-functional collaboration, executive communications, and successful project outcomes.

Contract Details

• Contract type: Contract
• Contract Length: 52 weeks, anticipated from August 31, 2026, through August 31, 2027
• Location: Oakland, California

Core Responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of the development and implementation of complex, multi-year IT projects
• Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned projects
• Oversee and administer Meter-to-Cash IT initiatives
• Evaluate project objectives, feasibility, risks, alternatives, and conceptual designs
• Manage project conflicts and facilitate resolutions across supporting organizations
• Develop and champion project management best practices across the organization
• Prepare and deliver formal project presentations to senior leadership and company officers
• Mentor and provide guidance to less-experienced project managers

Required Skills/Experience (Must-Haves)

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• 8+ years of experience in project management, project controls, engineering, and/or construction within the organization, or 9+ years of relevant experience as an external candidate
• Demonstrated experience managing complex, high-visibility, multi-year IT projects
• Experience managing project risks, budgets, schedules, resources, and deliverables
• Strong ability to collaborate with and influence cross-functional supporting organizations
• Experience resolving conflicts and aligning stakeholders on project objectives
• Active Project Management Professional (PMP) certification

Preferred Skills/Experience (Nice-to-Haves)

• Experience managing IT projects valued between $15 million and $20 million
• Experience overseeing projects connected to regulatory commitments
• Knowledge of utility-industry operations and technology environments
• Experience with Meter-to-Cash systems or related business processes
• Knowledge of PG&E IT PMO standards and deliverables
• Experience presenting project updates and recommendations to executive-level stakeholders
• Experience mentoring or providing guidance to other project managers

Work Environment

• Location: Oakland, CA
• Work Arrangement: Primarily remote with occasional onsite attendance based on project and team needs

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay Range: The approximate pay range for this position is between $56.00 and $80.00. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location. We comply with local wage minimums.
