Software Engineer - Backend

Job Description

Codeworks, an LRS company, is seeking a Software Engineer who enjoys building scalable backend systems, solving complex technical challenges, and delivering high-quality software that makes a meaningful impact. This contract opportunity offers the chance to contribute to the ongoing development of the Concerto MR platform, leveraging modern Java technologies and microservices architecture within a collaborative Agile environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services supporting the Concerto MR platform.
• Build and enhance Java-based microservices using Spring Boot and related technologies.
• Develop, maintain, and optimize RESTful APIs and service integrations.
• Collaborate with product owners, software engineers, and QA professionals to define and deliver software solutions.
• Participate in application architecture discussions, code reviews, and technical design activities.
• Support testing, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and production support efforts.
• Contribute to CI/CD processes, application reliability, and software quality improvements.
• Assist with identifying and implementing best practices for backend development and system integration.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong Java development experience.
• Hands-on experience with Spring Boot and microservices architectures.
• Experience designing, developing, and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Knowledge of relational databases and modern backend application design principles.
• Experience with cloud-native application development.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and Agile development methodologies.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with Angular or other modern front-end technologies is a plus.
• Experience in healthcare, medical device, or other regulated software environments is preferred.

The base range for this contract position is $55.00 - $65.00 per hour, depending on experience. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hires of this position across all U.S. locations. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors.
