Summary The Business, Facilities and Real Estate Associate Attorney would help K-12 schools and community colleges navigate the broad range of operational legal issues they encounter related primarily to management and disposition of property, general school district business and contracting operations, and related procurement and financing issues. The candidate would provide transactional support on a broad range of substantive legal issues. Examples include real estate transactions, leases, public contracting matters, procurement, and a wide range of contract negotiations. Responsibilities Lead legal oversight of real property acquisition and disposition transactions. Ensure compliance with statutory and other regulatory obligations for such transactions. Review title, zoning, easements, and property‑related due diligence. Provide legal oversight for facilities operations. Review and negotiate facility‑related vendor agreements and service contracts. Support school site renovations, relocations, and capital improvement projects. Draft and review public bidding documents and negotiate the resulting contracts. Ensure contract terms appropriately address liability, indemnification, and school district specific interests. Ensure compliance with competitive bidding and public entity procurement requirements. Resolve disputes involving leases, vendors and parties providing equipment, supplies, or services to a district. Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice. Requirements Experience: three (3) – five (5) years of practice experience. Commercial real estate transactions. Corporate contracts. Business operations law. Facilities or property management legal matters. Experience advising public agencies recommended but not required (familiarity with The Brown Act, California Public Records Act, etc.). Candidates must be a member of the State Bar of California. Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school required. Strong experience negotiating complex commercial agreements. Experience managing vendor negotiations and procurement agreements preferred. Prior experience in professional services or law firm environment strongly preferred. Advanced knowledge of commercial real estate law and leasing strategy. Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills. Strong business judgment and risk assessment capabilities. Ability to communicate complex legal issues coherently to district administrators. Strong project management and organizational planning skills. Ability to balance legal protection with practical business solutions. High degree of discretion and confidentiality. Compensation, Benefits & Perks Annual Salary Range: $160,000-195,000 annually.
