Radiologic Technology Program Director

Summary The position is responsible for oversight of the Radiologic Technology program, including activities related to the student experience and student success such as developing and implementing retention strategies, managing active students, students on leave of absences, NS/TO and students on externship. The role includes management and support of faculty, managing externship quality, site quality and volume, and ensuring academic quality through classroom observations, feedback, program review, assessment of student learning outcome data, and improvement plans. Compensation Starting pay range: $100,000 - $120,000 annually. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Teach courses in a term or terms. Develop, implement, and conduct assessments on program and course student learning outcomes. Coordinate faculty activities and trainings. Coordinate faculty scheduling within the program. Assist with selection and the interview process of faculty within the program. Develop and evaluate sites for clinical education, externship, and preceptorship as applicable. Maintain faculty substitute listings and current contact information for the program. Coordinate new faculty orientation and program‑specific orientations for students. Ensure compliance with all program and college metrics including graduation rates, retention, and third‑party pass rates; develop and implement action plans for items not meeting standards. Conduct assessments of all class sessions of the program as required by policy. Maintain and manage a sufficient inventory of program equipment and supplies in an Excel spreadsheet and update it with the college’s standard equipment list. Prepare requests for equipment and supply ordering for the program. Ensure that annual calibration is completed for all equipment in the program requiring calibration. Coordinate textbook orders for the program. Facilitate monthly programmatic faculty meetings, advisory committee meetings, and curriculum review meetings; publish agenda and minutes. Maintain copies of current curriculum for the program, including course objectives, syllabi, and daily lesson plans for each course. Attend all college meetings, including in‑services, academic excellence calls, program leadership calls, curriculum calls, and program specific calls. Coordinate renewals and maintain copies of current licensure, certifications, etc. as required for faculty in the program. Possess direct responsibility for meeting all programmatic accreditation regulations and submitting required accreditation documentation accurately and on time. Prepare accreditation reports, reviews, etc. as required by the program. Maintain records, reports, examinations, data, fees, and other program specific items as required by the college, accreditation, or governmental agencies. Participate as assigned in related admissions and employment services activities. Monitor and maintain compliance with applicable institutional, government and accreditation standards. Complete other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities This position has direct supervisory responsibilities. Qualifications Education and/or Experience Master’s degree or completion of a Bachelor’s degree with current enrollment in a Master’s program. A minimum of three (3) years of experience in diagnostic radiologic technology. Certification/Licensure Qualified practitioner with one of the following issued by the California Department of Public Health, Radiologic Health Branch: A radiology supervisor and operator certificate (17 CCR 30466). A radiography supervisor and operator permit (17 CCR 30463) and a fluoroscopy supervisor and operator permit (17 CCR 30466). A diagnostic radiologic technologist certificate (17 CCR 30440) and a fluoroscopic radiologic technologist permit. Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification, or equivalent, in radiography. Venipuncture certificate or secondary certification within 6 months of hire. Other Qualifications Two years of teaching experience and two years of management/supervisory/lead position or specialist experience in Radiologic Technology or related health care setting preferred. Thorough knowledge of specific program requirements; ability to teach from a standardized curriculum; knowledge of Carrington policies and procedure. Preferred Qualifications Doctoral degree. A minimum of two (2) years of experience as an instructor in a JRCERT‑accredited program. Proficiency in curriculum design, evaluation, instruction, program administration, and academic advising. Holds current ARRT certification, or equivalent, in additional modalities beyond radiography. Must meet or exceed all standards listed in Minimum Qualifications report; degrees from accredited institutions; non‑US institution equivalencies as required. Program Director must have required certificates, licenses and registrations for the course(s) they are to teach. Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as handbooks and curriculum; write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively before groups of students and faculty members. Mathematical Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; compute rate, ratio, and percent. Computer Skills Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook). Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense to instructions in written, oral, or diagram form; deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Physical Demands Regularly required to sit, use hands, reach, talk, hear, walk; occasionally required to stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; must regularly lift up to 10 lb, frequently up to 25 lb, occasionally up to 50 lb. Work Environment Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and outside weather conditions; noise level usually moderate.
