Job Description

The Shipping and Receiving Clerk plays a key role in warehouse operations by accurately loading and unloading trucks, receiving orders into the computer system, and preparing items for shipment. This position ensures that inventory moves efficiently through the facility and that all incoming and outgoing orders are processed correctly and on time.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently using pallet jacks and sit-down forklifts.

• Receive incoming orders and accurately enter data into the computer system.

• Prepare items for shipment, including labeling, packaging, and staging orders for pickup.

• Pull orders from warehouse inventory according to pick lists and shipping documents.

• Verify incoming and outgoing shipments against documentation to ensure accuracy.

• Handle materials and products throughout the warehouse, maintaining organization and flow.

• Use pallet jacks and forklifts to move, stack, and arrange products and materials.

• Perform data entry tasks related to shipping, receiving, and inventory tracking.

• Assist with maintaining accurate warehouse inventory records.

• Coordinate shipments using carriers such as FedEx, ensuring proper documentation and labeling.

• Follow established warehouse procedures and safety guidelines at all times.

• Support general shipping and receiving activities as needed to meet operational demands.

Essential Skills

• At least 2 years of experience in shipping and receiving.

• Hands-on experience with order picking and order pulling in a warehouse environment.

• Proficiency in material handling, including loading and unloading trucks.

• Ability to operate a sit-down forklift safely and effectively.

• Ability to operate pallet jacks and other basic warehouse equipment.

• Strong data entry skills with attention to accuracy.

• Basic computer skills for entering and managing shipping and receiving information.

• Experience with warehouse inventory processes and procedures.

• Knowledge of shipping and receiving workflows, including documentation and verification.

• Ability to work with common carriers such as FedEx for outbound shipments.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working in a warehouse or distribution environment.

• Familiarity with general inventory management practices.

• Comfort working with shipping systems and basic office software.

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and standard operating procedures.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies in orders or documentation.

• Reliability and consistency in meeting daily shipping and receiving deadlines.

Work Environment

This role is based in a non-climate-controlled shop environment, where you work primarily in a warehouse setting. The work involves standing, walking, and handling products throughout the shift in an active, fast-paced setting. Dress comfortably and appropriately for a warehouse environment and varying temperatures, with suitable footwear to support safety and mobility.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
