Embedded Software Engineer

Salary: $89,000 - 129,000 per year Requirements:

• We need 3+ years of experience in software and firmware engineering.
• We require exceptional communication skills and strong proficiency in C and C++ programming.
• We require experience developing software for microcontrollers or embedded processors.
• We require experience developing and maintaining embedded Linux systems.
• We require experience using Git for source-code management and collaborative development.
• We require proficiency with Visual Studio Code (VS Code) or a comparable integrated development environment.
• We require a solid understanding of embedded systems concepts, including interrupts, timers, memory management, concurrency, and hardware interfaces.
• We require experience with embedded debugging tools and software development workflows.
• We require familiarity with software development processes, code reviews, testing methodologies, and configuration management.

• We require the ability to read and interpret schematics, datasheets, and hardware specifications.
• Preferred experience includes UEFI BIOS and Intel x86 architectures.
• Preferred experience includes ARM and embedded Linux development.
• Preferred experience includes PIC microcontroller development and other bare-metal, low-level firmware.
• Preferred experience includes the Yocto Project, including recipes, custom layers, BitBake, machine configurations, and image customization.

• We design, develop, debug, and maintain embedded software for microcontroller- and processor-based systems.
• We develop software primarily in C and C++, including low-level drivers, hardware interfaces, application code, and system services.
• We develop, configure, customize, and maintain embedded Linux systems and related build tools.
• We integrate and configure real-time operating systems, middleware, communication stacks, and third-party software components.
• We develop and maintain firmware for interfaces such as SPI, I2C, UART, USB, Ethernet, and GPIO.
• We collaborate with hardware engineers to bring up new circuit boards and resolve hardware/software integration issues.
• We analyze system requirements and convert them into robust software architectures and implementation plans.
• We perform unit testing, integration testing, debugging, and performance tuning.
• We use embedded debugging tools, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other lab equipment to diagnose system-level issues.
• We use Git for source-code management, branching, merging, and code collaboration.
• We use JIRA to track development tasks, defects, requirements, and project progress.
• We use development tools such as Visual Studio Code (VS Code) and others to build and debug embedded software.
• We participate in code reviews, design reviews, and process improvement efforts.
• We develop and maintain technical documentation, including software specifications, design documentation, and test procedures.
• We support product verification, validation, manufacturing, and field-deployment activities.
• We identify and resolve software defects and contribute to continuous improvements in product reliability and performance.
